Re: Holding refuses to acknowledge T20 as cricket
Seems this forum refuses to acknowledge T20 as well.
As Trev pointed out when he started the 1st ODI WI v SAf thread, neither of the T20s rated a thread from us.
Even Wiffy and kkf couldn't be @rsed.

In our defence Windies are playing carp even by our standards recently. It's not worth 2/3 hours of our time to watch that s**t. I am waiting for the tests to begin and the A team tour of England which is a hell of a lot more important for our development anyway.
I am not completely against T20 cricket, it just feels like with the IPL, T20 WC and the series against SA we have had far too much of it.

I actually think that T20 is the pinnacle of cricket.
Who are world champions again?

Yeah I agree. I like all kinds of cricket. But for this series we could have skipped the 20/20's considering we just had a 20/20 world cup. I have a lot of stuff going on so couldn't have watched the games this week but I did peak at the scores. But I completely disagree with Holding re Pollard. He is freaking 22 and has not played a test yet. Give him a chance before you say he is not a cricketer. Excellent fielder, decent bowler, hard hitting batsman(not a total slogger though usually tries to hit straight) reasonable FC record not just in 20/20's. He might surprise people in tests when he is not under pressure to try and up the run rate every time.

Well, you can always stick your fingers in your ears and shout loudly, in which case 20/20 is sure to go away
On the other hand, acknowledge it for what it is, i.e. 'cricket-lite' and welcome it in the current international/domestic structure and harness it's popularity to the benefit ofother forms of the game.

No, that didn't seem to work Bas. It's still here. The Snoozers and Lankans are playing another of the infernal things as we speak.

Or I can choose to take a glance at it when it's the only show in town, and acknowledge that it will be there, but not get too excited by it.Basil wrote:skully wrote:Damn straight, Hass. Not really. That's mostly what I've beeen doing for the last few weeks with no real cricket on. Still loads to do, unfortunately, and now I'm not comforted by the fact that I'm avoiding the T20.

Watch it, lardy, Nigel's probably planning to glue himself to the bedroom wall and get you to strip him . . .

Even that sounds better than T20. At least it'd be memorable afterwards, even if for all the wrong reasons.

Re: Holding refuses to acknowledge T20 as cricket
pretty safe bet
7 years down the line, does anybody think any better of T20 than we did back in 2010?
It's obviously here to stay, but I still can't be arsed watching it. The crowd seems to get into it in the same way basketball crowds get into that.

I don't mind having the BBL on in the background at nights over summer. And Chris Lynn is pretty fun to watch.
But farked if I could tell you who won the damn thing last year or who plays for who.
