Oz team ratings from this match
out of 10
Watson......4 ....made a fifty, but failed in the first dig after beiing dropped twice, bowled poorly and ran Hughes out
Hughes......3.....rash shot in the first dig started the collapse...looks out of form which exacebates lack of technique
Ponting......3.....fought but failed in both digs...organised bowlers and field reasonably...but blew his stack
Clarke ......1......will claim he topscored in the first dig - lol...appalling spell with his hobby spinners..dreadful attitude
Hussey .....2....good catch, had overdue failures in both digs
Smith........3.....bizarre batting...straight break bowling erned no respect
Haddin......4.....shocking shot in first dig and carried his bat in the 2nd when the game was lost...one good catch but otherwise untidy behind the stumps
Johnson.....1....dreadful batting and worse bowling...only clarke tops him for poor attitude...lucky Sids held two tough catches or else his 'effort' would rank with his performance in Brisbanal
Harris.......2.....tried
Hilfenhaus..2...stuck to his task but lacks tightness and effort balls
Siddle......7....bowled well and surprisingly again batted well...this shows the england bowling is prety ordinairy and that the top and middle order are carp

Siddle deserved at least an 8 horace, was brilliant with the ball and smashed an entertaining 40 with the bat. Probably a 9 actually.

cheers Vilks...he always brings a never say die effort...but...if he had made 20 in the first dig and a 50 in the 2nd...would have thought about an 8...but it is a team game and no player on the losing side really merits an 8

Re: Oz team ratings from this match
aside from the third test, the tour game against Victoria provided the only real test of the tourists...that said we don't want the Vics to be polluted by the loser culture that has been so clearly embraced by the NSP, Clarke et al

Re: Oz team ratings from this match
Watson......4 Got a 50, but too late to be of any substance. Batted like a blind man in the first innings, was dropped twice before his mammoth contribution of 5. Ran out Hughes (cricket euthanasia?) Bowling never looked threatening.
Hughes......1 I have nothing good to say about his performance. Nothing at all. Arrogant little ******. Seemed to get all sulky when fielding close in. His attitude and shot selection when batting showed that he'd learned NOTHING from being dropped. And to top it all off, when he was run out by the 21st century version of Graeme Wood he didn't even dive to make his ground. Contrast to Trott who said in an interview that he has actually practiced his dives hundreds of times.
Ponting......2 In probably the worst batting form of his career. Had to hide at mid-on and mid-off due to carrying a broken finger into the match. His temper tantrum after the KP referral was unforgiveable, and his insistence after the day's play that it was still out is yet another manifestation of his disconnect from reality.
Clarke ......2 The perfect counterpart to his skipper in this match. When he was called on to bowl, even many Aussie fans in the outer started booing his lack of effort.
Hussey .....2 And that only because of his fielding.
Smith........1 OK, I'm sorry, did he actually do anything in this match? I can't fathom his selection as a number 6. It makes no sense. He was picked a few months back as an 8, and his batting hasn't improved since then.
Haddin......5 Arrogant batting in the first innings, average performance as keeper but given he was behind the stumps for 160 overs, for him to come out and score a 50 underlined that Australian batsmen could do something on that pitch.
Johnson.....1 I can accept that spinners might have to buy a wicket by getting a batsman to sky one to the deep. Midge took two wickets for the match in that manner. Otherwise his bowling looked like it could have been flayed to all parts by a one-armed batsman using a limp celery stick instead of a willow. Did he put two successive deliveries in the right place at any stage of the match? Well, I suppose you could say he did, if the right place was sitting up outside off saying "hit me to the boundary please" or down the leg side...
Harris.......3 Had a go, but was cut down by injury. Game over.
Hilfenhaus..2 Got two wickets when England looked like scoring a thousand. Looked like he would have been at home in the NZ team in the mid 90s. Except his bowling wasn't even of the dibbly-dobbly variety.
Siddle.... 8 I know vilks suggested a higher score, but he got his 6 wickets becuase nobody else even looked like taking a wicket. He does get points for trying, and trying, and trying, and trying.... and two catches. And for scoring 40. He was the best of our bowlers, but that really doesn't say much.

I'd (sadly) agree with horrie on a 7/10 for Siddle. He absolutely did nothing wrong but in a loss this bad nobody on the losing team can get much credit, Siddle was quality with the ball but England did still make over 500.

Slammed Ponting's pinky in a door ten minutes before the teams were due to be named?
Re: Oz team ratings from this match
siddle should have head butted Clarke and several others of the NSW breed for complete absence of effort...if he had I would have given him a 7.25

It's a shame Zoggy is using his talent with words on Twitter instead of in here.
