Hopefully it means he's fresh and raring to go this Summer.

I thought you were going to say Jimmy and Broady had limped out of the Cup.

So essentially, nothing short of 90% of the squad being sent home would have sufficed... Sounds about right.

Anyway, how long does a hernia op take to recover from? A couple of months? Seems like they're already assuming England will be knocked out of this World Cup early.....

Footballers tend to bounce back in six weeks. Pretty standard injury and operation.
Might be longer if he were a pace bowler. But he isn't. In spite of being 6' 4" with a fast, whippy arm (probably). Lazy qunt.

So all that r00ting he got up to with that heinous bit of gear Caprice did his groin in??

KP's surgery plans in disarray as England are now likely to qualify for the next round.

Linky - Apparently, KP's out of the WC.
Who's going to replace him, Morgan?

Oh good!
Let's hope Morgan's let back in to the squad (and thus be spared the ignomony of watching Luke Sussex poncing around a cricket field) ...

Yes, probably Morgan if fit himself.
Means we're missing an opener so might do us a favour and get Bell up the order to open.
If not an alternative opener is Kieswetter.

Re: Finally some good news for England....
Are they allowed to recall Morgan having had to drop him from the original squad due to injury?
Otherwise guess it's Kieswetter, Davies or Cook to come in. Though they may spring a real surprise and pick a bowler, nothing would be a surprise with this England campaign...

He can't replace his replacement but can anyone else. That's how Hussey is getting back in the squad.
Guess it would be Kieswetter or Davies. Cooky would be a big shout but has not been playing cricket.

Re: Finally some good news for England....
Having a backup keeper gives more options as well I guess, such as dropping Prior if he isn't getting any runs.
Shame if Cook's run of form comes to an end due to him not playing any cricket for a few months. Hopefully he will come back refreshed for the Test summer and pick up where he left off in Australia, but I always thought that leaving someone out who had just made over 750 runs in an Ashes series was very harsh. Perhaps having Cook, Strauss, Trott and Bell in the same one-day squad would just have been too many accumulators who wouldn't be able to lift the strike rate, but it's not as if we have a lot of hitters ready to come in who are of international quality.

Morgan wasn't picked in the original squad - so, therefore, he can be picked as a replacement.
Belf to open then? Where did I put those rosary beads?!

Re: Finally some good news for England....
Ideally, England want two replacements for Pietersen - Kieswetter to open and Morgan to be the middle order non-crab.
So what they really need is another player to invent a gammy back. Luke Wright - your country needs you. To f*ck off.

Surely they'll call up Morgan, assuming his finger is 100% now.
Bell or Bobs up to open.

Sod Luke Wright, what about Tredwell? That pitch was made for him and he wasn't selected, the greatest contribution to English sport he could make would be to fake an injury.
Would he though? No. Selfish ******!

Re: Finally some good news for England....
I thought Tremlett was travelling in the squad as a kind of security guard for the England team. England need Tredwell to go immediately- "Bring out....the Trembler!!!!! Bowl short and fast at this man's fingers until they break, you dramatic beast of a man!!"

Well that means some firepower down the order a bit now, just a question mark over the opener.
Not Bops for me.
What about something out of left field? Graeme Swann to open.
