Re: England vs Sri Lanka, 2nd Test, Lords, June 3-7, 2011
I think Finn will shade it due to it being his home patch, but it's too close for comfort. Still it's one 'the big I am' for another if he gets in so the qunt quota will not have a surplus.

The selectors will likely go with Finn, but many experts think Onions should get a recall. I'd like to see Onions back on the scene, if that's okay with everyone.
The Onions call has no basis in real life - it's purely a past-glory shout. He's just had a career-saving back operation. There's no evidence that he's returned to the level his game was at when he got injured. He has less wickets this season than part-timer Ben Stokes.
Shahzad or - don't make me say it - D*enb*ch for the 12. In keeping with the continuity theme, Shaz was on the Ashes tour (and almost played at Adelaide, if reports are to be believed). Dirtybag took nine wickets against SL in the Lions game.
Seems like Finn's going to play anyway, so it's all a bit mooty.
Aye, I've just checked his stats for this season and they're not quite as good as I thought, as he seemed to be taking wickets when I checked the scorecards. But Rikki Clarke is comprehensively outbowling him so far. So he does need to show a bit more.
They do need someone to bowl that full length and try and swing the ball, maybe Dirtbag can do that?
Re: England vs Sri Lanka, 2nd Test, Lords, June 3-7, 2011
Well, Nazi, the attack is a bit samey. It depends on the pitch. If it bounces enough (yehreet) then surely the three gigantes should get picked. Picking dirtbag would make me feel all grim inside.

I think we must remember that England's side was poor in the first innings. Plus a few of them don't seem to epitomise what is good about England for me. My team for the Second Test would be:
Root
Hamilton-Brown (c)
Billings
Bell
Stokes
Wright
Bairstow
Broad
Batty
Chapple
Borthwick

I was trying to woof him out of the twelve.
Orthodox woof is shine on the inside, no? Maybe I got it confused...
Re: England vs Sri Lanka, 2nd Test, Lords, June 3-7, 2011
You need to get your arse to woof training school, Dellboy. Get to use it with care and responsibility.

And when did Glen Chapple become older than time itself?

Answering Dello's query re: Chapple ....
Since he took over the Lancs captaincy.

Gone are the days of him being an indefatigable ginger terrier. Now he's an ashen husk of a man. I'm sure being in Lancs for a whole epoch drains the very essence of living from a person.
Re: England vs Sri Lanka, 2nd Test, Lords, June 3-7, 2011
Okay, the fully ranga XI is below, be warned without the addition of a few blondes they are quite one dimensional and lacking in depth (or indeed roots). Would this team beat Sri Lanka? They'd give them a game at least....
Wells
Gale
Bell
Collingwood
Morgan
Stokes
Bairstow
Batty
Chapple
Kirby
Davies
12th Man - Carter
Other's to watch:
Kevin O'Brien, Tom New, Ben Brown, Tom Milnes

I don't remember Allan Wells being massively ginge.
Mrs Wells must be an albino or something.

An outtake:
The rest of the Surrey squad's photos were taken on the outfield - so yes, i'm assuming he did indeed request his own individual photo session.
I wonder if he uses a different changing room and enters the field from his own special gate too?

I always imagined RHB being driven out to bat in one of those Popemobiles, to the sound of The One and Only by Chesney Hawkes.

Is Jonny B the only out'n'proud ranga in county cricket these days? The others all look to have covered up with highlights or aren't bright ginga to start with. Steve Kirby used to be flame-haired, but he's covering it well. Chapple's a bit flaxen, more sandy than ranga.
