He also has the backing of some former players and the fans who have commented on the affair or publicly supported him at the ODI against the Vics.

Simon O'Donnell gave Kat (or is that Edith Piaf?) a spray on the wireless this morning.

Any Channel Nine employed ex cricketer can't be taken seriously when asked who they back out of a disgruntled former player and the current Australian Captain.

Re: Katich has no regrets
Interesting how sanctimonious Clarke is about Katich though. There was a strong case for him to be dropped after the Ashes debacle yet Katich has been the scapegoat. And poor little darling Clarkie couldn't even handle the heat in the #4 kitchen whilst Katich's record has been good despite handling the new ball in every innings.
Had Clarke been dropped it would be interesting to see if he was so sychophantic to the establishment.

Since Bingle left him Clarke has played 14 Tests and scored 840 runs @ 33.6
In the previous 40 Tests he scored 3303 runs @ 58.98

Re: Katich has no regrets
And the one century he made in that time was after moving back down to number five, against a poor Sri Lankan attack, on a road of a pitch.
Top quality pace attacks know that they just have to keep bowling outside off stump at him and eventually he'll lose patience and nick an ambitious drive to the slips. I'm not sure i've ever seen him make tough runs.

Yeah...and you'd think his back would have improved after he left Bingle.
Re: Katich has no regrets
Whether he was right or wrong, Kat should've kept his gob shut, IMHO. Dunno what he hoped to achieve.

Re: Katich has no regrets
Personal vendettas have no place in team selection. Also, as captain of your country you should be able to put away your own bad feelings for the good of your team. So, I suppose that Katich thinks he's going to achieve helping make Clarke's job a little harder, just like Clarke has made his.
Re: Katich has no regrets
A Journalist asked him a question, and he probably thought "what the hell have I got to lose by being honest?"
Why should he have kept his mouth shut? Katich is only saying what most Aussie fans already suspected. If Cricket Australia and the selectors chose to bury their heads in the sand, then that's up to them.

It serves no purpose other than to make him appear victorian and to undermine the captain of the national side - and that position deserves respect even if the bloke in it doesn't

fleas is in a very long line of spivs who have campaigned for their spots through the media...bung, magoo, both koalas (Snr's public undermining of Tubby in his campaign to be captain was a classic), bollybogan

plares and other states regularly have expressed dismay at the poor communication skills or lack of any communication from the NSP...

Agree with you on that.
That partnership with Rohrer during the 4th day was some of the best batting you could ever see so I guess he was caught up in the moment when interviewed. However, I'm very disappointed he didn't come out with an apology the next day.
