Sehwag picked for Aus tour - stroke of genius or madness?
So anyhoo...
Sehwag is going to be on the plane to Australia. What do you all make of his selection given his fairly long stint out of the Indian team? Personally, I don't know what to expect. I do wonder though if he is still capable of playing like this :

It's a good brave decision either way. A gamble but with potential huge returns.

the indian selectors got one selection right - virender will play well...tis a pity that the selectors erred by not including the prodigiously talented, gutsy and experienced aquacker...the tour will be the poorer for the indian champ all rounder's absence

I hope it pays of because an Indian team with an inform Sehwag opening is a more dangerous side.

I agree - as an Aussie, I'd rather him not be there.

Still bringing him back for aus but not playing him in the Pakistan series is utter stupidity.

I agree. Its a good move by selectors.
Atleast now we won't've to bear with the likes of Gambhir and Chopra on this tour.

Had a day to think about it and am now fairly happy that they picked him, despite the obvious lack of test-match readiness. Interesting... his scores in Australia :
45 [Bowlers - Gillespie, Bracken, Bichel, Macgill]
0
47 [Bowlers - Gillespie, Williams, Bichel, Macgill]
47
195 [Bowlers - Lee, Bracken, Williams, Macgill]
11
72 [Bowlers - Lee, Gillespie, Bracken, Macgill]
47
76 [Bowlers - Mcgrath, Lee, Watson, Warne, Macgill]
7
Sehwag seems to love Brett Lee's bowling, but then Lee has improved a lot, he has the accuracy to go with the pace now.

But was Macgill bowling to him at the top of the order?
Not that I think Sehwag should be in the team anyway.

the sheer presence of magoo in the team has a negative impact on all other bowlers

Poor $od he gets a lot of stick. I looked up his career Test record, which is better than the Indian spinning greats of the 70s
We're just looking at career averages, not where they played, oppo, etc, etc.

Chandra 58 242 8/79 12/104 29.74 2.70 65.9 16 2
Who's to say MacGill would not have taken 500 wickets had Warne not played?
- Code:
Mat W BBI BBM Ave Econ SR 5 10
Kumble 121 584 10/74 14/149 28.66 2.65 64.6 34 8
When did and avergae of 28.66 become better than 28.14?

Well spotted. Give that man a lavalava.
So his avg is even better than Kumble's.
