Australia's ODI Squad

Michael Clarke (c), Daniel Christian, Xavier Doherty, Peter Forrest, Ryan Harris, David Hussey, Mike Hussey, Brett Lee, Mitchell Marsh, Clint McKay, Ricky Ponting, Mitchell Starc, Matthew Wade, David Warner

Peter Forrest? WTF?

And why bother with Huss and Punter any more.

Or Qunt M'Kay. Useless tit of a bowler.

And I see the Dan Christian bandwagon rolls on, FFS. Rolling Eyes

Invers said that he wants a blend of youth and experience. Pleased to see Haddit and S.Marsh out though.

They've only dropped Marsh so he can get some form in the SS so they can pick him for the Windies.

But seriously, Forrest?

And Dhussey who has failed time and again at international level.

He's scored 500 plus Shield runs this year JGK

Isnt the message the NSP want to send that if you score runs you are a chance of selection ...who knows he might succeed ...or they could play Voges again

Cant see the point of Paris Nicky or Punter ...and Id be saving Rhino's knee for important games

Too early for Mitch Marsh ...but they'll play him and ruin him anyway

But what's he been like in the Ryobi (which is surely the better test). Actually, the BBL would be a better indicator than the SS.

It is only the Bannies, so can field a second XI for the JAMODIs

I'd have Faulkner over McKay but i guess with Christian, two allrounders is a bit of overkill.

Ferguson might be a tad unlucky; this is his format.

Anyone else think that Invers looks super serious in those press conferences or haunted or something?

What has Faulkner got to do to get a game? It seems they are picking the ODI squad on the basis of BBL and FC form rather than performances in 50 over cricket, which seems a bit strange.

On tht basis, why isn't McDermott himself in the squad?

Lee has been yesterday's news for a very, very, very long time ...

Well it seems they picked the test side on BBL form with the selection of bog, so only appropriate they continue to select from forms of the game not relevant to the team.

Nobhead Slats told me they picked the ODI side (WTF forrest FFS anyway) based on FC with a view to seeing how they went as a long term replacement in the test side. Sometimes you wished people would think inside the box

and Haddin was asked if he was rested and (to his credit) he said nah I see it as being dropped

Sage. Although I'm prepared to cut Invers some slack at this stage.

Perhaps and it was the avenue for Huss getting in the side

But what's Forrest averaging in the SS this year -mid 50s or something? Doing that for a half a season is hardly crying out to be looked (particularly when he wasn't good enough to make his state side 9 months ago)

Gilly , Pup , Roy , Paris , Bog , Marto 2.0 and shitloads of others all got into the Test team on form in the 50 over game

Its not as if its a new selection policy

So is the suggestion from Inverarity that Callum Ferguson is lazy and needs to pull his finger out?

but they weren't picked in the ODI side to see how they would go with a view of picking them in tests. They were initially picked because they were good OD players.

ie it is a completely different selection policy

All of those players apart from Marsh had good first class records behind them as well. Also, the only reason Symonds was selected for the test side was because Ponting was such a fierce supporter of him, and it's the source of Brad Hodge's bitterness seeing as the statistically far inferior Symonds was the one who ousted Hodge from the test team.

I think they just see something in Forrest that they like. He has a pretty solid technique and always looks composed at the crease. Could be a hunch selection along the lines of Vaughan and Trescothick for England.

Trev

Marsh's FC record in the years before he was picked for Australia is good (50+ average)...his average is sh!t because he started his FC career like he has started his Test career ...promising much but failing to deliver too often

Roy is 388 . Hodge is 394

Roy replaced S Waugh or Katich (Boof came into the team as well) when he debuted in SL

He replaced Marto in his second coming as a Test cricketer
