You've got to be kidding.......
http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/current/story/552462.html
Ajmal had apparently suggested that he was allowed 23.5 degrees of flexion or extension when bowling by the ICC - rather than the limit of 15 - but the Pakistan board said this figure included the angle of Ajmal's elbow joint, which was affected by an accident some years ago.
And to quote David Lloyd, my backside's a fire engine.

At least he admitted that his arm is bent more than 15 degrees.

And despite all that, the ICC is defending him, blaming the fact that English isn't his first language. They are seriously weak.

His first language isn't English though and I've heard him get his words a bit jumbled before - I'm not sure how he actually meant to articulate his point, but I'm certain that's not how it was intended.
To me, it's not up to him to explain himself, it's the ICC and they were incredibly indignant about his action not being properly assessed and whether they would do in the future. What rankles is that it's distinctly possible that when they tested him in 2009 he was just about OK and has since worsened through no particular fault of his own, just bad habits.
I suppose, as with Murali, we'll just have to move on. It doesn't in any way compliment us that he's dodgy... Rehman made us look like sh!tty-nappied little wankers as well.

Hafeez would have made England's batsmen look shite if he bowled enough, but that's another point.

Impossible to get a grip on the chucking issue unless there's a way to test people in match conditions. Otherwise people can bowl whatever they want in the testing room and go into a match bowling something completely different. Whether that's deliberate or tiredness, searching for extra spin etc..

I don't give a flying sh!t whether his English is crap or not.
It's time the useless feckers at the ICC make a definitive statement on this issue.
Either everyone can chuck or no one can chuck. At the moment it seems to be reserved to subbie chuckers, and I don't really care whether this is construed as racist or not.

Re: You've got to be kidding.......
Not racist at all.
Subbie bowlers DO chuck.
Fact.
And whats more ... they get away with it.
And whats even more .... they are ALLOWED to get away with it.
Why?
Because the ICC are both a. lacking the balls to adhere to the spirit of the game ... and b. because the ICC are, in the main, riddled with bag carrying Subbies in the first place .... which allows EVERY tolerance of their bowlers ... whether it be at 15 degrees or 27.5 degrees off the norm. Evidence is riddled with anomalies and are cut in order to suit the cloth, experiments are conducted secretively, and the results are published with grand acceptance as reality.
Which is absolute bollocks.
Murali and now Adjmal ... both blatant throwers of the ball ... and why can't they be called for it?
because of "deformities" and "accidents" that just happen to happen ... and once they're past taking 100 illegal international wickets, they are considered as accepted - with no further investigation deemed necessary!
Which is also absolute bollocks.
It's a very sensitive point this ... the fear that the ICC have of exposing blatant subbie cheats who throw the ball disguised as an act of "bowling " it ..... is mortifying .... and no one says a bloody thing.
Now if that's construed as racist - they can go f**k themselves.

It's gone too far now. The oly solution was for the players themselves to refuse to play against blatant cheats but that might affect their IPL contracts.
Is there anyone with a modicum of decency left in the game?

I'm surprised Nasser hasn't said something on air. He openly called Murali a "f*cking chucker" in the middle of a test match in Sri Lanka in 2003.
Granted, those exact words in relation to Ajmal, on live TV, might be going a bit far, but he's usually the type to call it as he sees it. "India have too many donkeys in the field....India aren't a very good team Ravi Shastri" etc.....

He's too sacred of losing this contract and anyway has no real stature in the game.

Re: You've got to be kidding.......
Unfortunately, any spinner with a suspect action will be able to use the 'Murali defence' now. A precedent has been set.
They'll hire a doctor from their own Country to spout some rubbish about a "childhood accident" meaning the bowler can't fully straighten his arm, the ICC will be too weak and scared of legal ramifications to insist on an assessment from an independent Doctor, the bowler's (and paid-off Doctor's) explanation will be accepted, and he'll be allowed to continue pinging it.
And for the record, I did believe Murali when he said he couldn't fully straighten his elbow. His action was probably less dodgy than Ajmal's. Nothing against Ajmal though really. He's a character and seems like a good bloke, and he's an excellent cricketer. But as has been mentioned, the ICC is ultimately to blame for where things now stand.
They could have nipped all this in the bud years ago.

We should allow bowlers to use the dog ball thrower as well. And bowl three balls at once. And have extra arms grafted on.

And therein lies the rub.
These guys have highly lucrative contracts within the media - Sky and The Daily Mail with regards to Nasser - and it would be to their detrement to say anything explosive or controversial.
Bob Willis did though - he called Adjmal's doosra a chuck - "no doubt in my mind he throws it" were his words ... but Bob's a back-room boy now ... relegated to commenting on CC40 games around the provinces ...no power in the voice ...
Significantly however - having said it clearly - several times live on Sky 1 mid test ... till calmed down by Gower.....
None of the front men - Botham, Hussain, Atherton, Bumble ...all in Dubai, said absolutely nothing as a follow up.
It's up to the ICC ... that's the final cut ... and we all know just where their loyalties lie.

Er, just like Chuck, 90 degrees is a sh!tload more than 15 or even 23.5. What a load of bulltwang cheats many subbie spin bowlers are.Henry wrote:http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/current/story/552462.html

The more people complain the more their blame should go towards the governing body. It's the bowler's fault that they chuck, but they're going to carry on doing it until someone says they shouldn't.

Warwickshire bombed out a young offie called Maurice Holmes last year because they thought he was a bit chucky. They needn't have bothered - that's the future of spin bowling now.
Can't beat them, join them.
Re: You've got to be kidding.......
Wasn't it Bob Willis who said that more young English spinners should be encouraged to bowl 'illegally' if the ICC will let them get away with it?
I know in Australia they've decided to take some sort of moral high ground and the Coaches at their Academy are refusing to endorse the learning of the doosra.
