More a rant than anything.
Been a weird year for my market investments. Don't usually keep too many high beta stocks in my portfolio. This time, 2 complete stinkers and 3 jackpots.

Happily I sold most of my non-super investments a early last week.

Yeah I was hoping to cash in some super I only just found out about if only to simplify the end of FY reckoning. Wasn't much to start with but not sure it's worth the effort.

Grandad made sure of that, GAE left most of her pile to the the sister's kids in strict trusts. Qmyjr got left a large cash payment to be paid on his 18th birthday, something I spent years and a large amount of money getting changed.
But if you're looking for stocks how about the bleeding obvious in the supermarkets and probably paid content monsters?

Re: So, forum financial gurus...
Well done to Grandma.
I'm not looking for stocks, merely riding out this nightmare and waiting for the slow return to normality and days of healthy dividends.
Unfortch I had no wind of the virus when a large term deposit matured in late Dec (was getting 4.25% but they only offered 1.5% this time around) and was converted to stocks. Fortch mostly were in blue chip indexed ETPs. Some in Property have hemorrhaged badly.
Had the ferkin Chinese been honest I would've put that cash into another shitty TD for 12 months.

Re: So, forum financial gurus...
I've got a portfolio that I leave to other people to manage and have a trading account just to play around with with stuff I actually know something about (mining in third world shitholes) so it's not much different from my various gambling accounts. Apparently the long haul always offers a good return ( or so I'm told) and basically it's all just guess work and hail Mary's atm.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Can't see the sense in selling off after the market has dropped 30%. I've lost nothing but paper value.

Aye. Money is never actually lost, it just moves, and it will move back. Probably not much consolation to some.

Indeed. Those self-funded retirees that do have done their arse can probably go on the pension. I can't.

Aye. I hope I have another 20+ years on the planet. My partner says 30 ("you better!!").
Also, even though my SMSF balance has taken a big Covid-19 hit it's still well above govt pension allowable value.

Good point.
6 months to a year of minimal pollution due to shut down will be good for the planet.

Something none of thought you could ever see happened overnight.
West Texas crude oil May contracts finished in negative territory. Oil is worth nothing at the moment.

And on the opposite end of the spectrum, our local supermarket finally got some hand sanitiser spray in yesterday. Yours for a mere $20 for 10ml - $200 a litre.
It would be cheaper for me to use Grey Goose or Hendricks Reserve to sanitise my hands.

Is that a corner store? I can't imagine a shop with a bigger mark-up than a corner store in Mosman.
