Cummins, Pattinson, Starc
Which one have you got the highest hopes for? Saw Starc in last nights tv game - a lot more impressive than he was on his debut. Was quite impressed with the pace too.
Cummins is 'quick' isn't he? None of this describing 87mph bowlers as fast bowlers, he's an out and out quickie.

I thought you were going to say they were all injured.

Re: Cummins, Pattinson, Starc
Cummins bowled a good 94MPH the other day...
They're all not impressive... they're incredibly impressive.
Starc's the least impressive out of the three, probably - if he gets it wrong he's Johnsonesque. Pattinson's a huge twat, which could harm him in terms of keeping his head in the game. He minced and cried and stamped his feet - started scweaming - when he wasn't getting the luck and suddenly he'd lost the line and length that made him threatening. Cummins, ironically, seems to be the most polished... quite on the money the other day. Daunting old prospect in a couple of year's time.

None of them are remotely 'the finished article' yet.

Re: Cummins, Pattinson, Starc
Cummins seems to have (in the words of Richie Benaud) 'the most about him', out of the three. Just the way he roughed up and dismissed Kallis on his test debut, then got Aus over the line with the bat to win the test.....You can tell he has character.

Cummins interviews very well as well for a 19 year old.
They all have a stack of potential. I reckon Starc with his height and pace could bowl some unplayable spells.

Agree about Starc. He's not a bad second string bowler to have. He'd be in my side over Johnson any day.
Re: Cummins, Pattinson, Starc
He seems to fall away and lose his shape, a bit like Johnson, though. I've seen him have some horrible times. Cummins hasn't done too much wrong in his few shots, from what I've seen. But as I say, they're all top prospects - must be bloody exciting to be thinking of those in a few years time... I'm talking a possibly devastating combination.
Re: Cummins, Pattinson, Starc
I reckon Pattison with end up having the most success. He has that ability to consistantly shape the ball away at pace. Jimmykins and that saffie bloke show how valuable that is.

Yeah, he's been erratic at times after being absolutely brilliant. But, again, that can be polished out. The fact they're all so young is one of the greatest things about them.
BUT what we're ALL forgetting in all of this is that he's NOT Peter 'Graaarrrr' Siddle. So, they're probably shit.
Re: Cummins, Pattinson, Starc
Useful to have Siddle, Harris and Hilfenhaus all still in the mix; and Johnson to play the shitty T20s

Which Aussie quicks are in the Aus A side that tours here after the ODI series? If a bit of foresight was shown, you might want at least 2 of the 3 on that tour playing FC cricket with a Duke ball.
Aus fast bowling looks promising, and Lyon looks like a reasonable performer given conditions (although I still maintain Hauritz should still be playing).

I'm not sure. Peter George is the other one I'd like to see some work put into.

So all of them, basically. Their mollycoddling of Johnson is unbelievable. Definitely Australia's answer to Harmison.

Re: Cummins, Pattinson, Starc
Mickey Arthur has seen Johnson at his destructive best
His 8 fer in Perth against the Saffies and he ripped out the Saffies again at home
He's played about 3 games for WA with Arthur as coach and taken 2 michelles and scored a ton
That is the sort of bowler you want in your team ...everyone else remembers the low armed scrambled seam short wide dross he serves up

Re: Cummins, Pattinson, Starc
I've seen Johnson at his destructive best as well. Twice. In the space of five years.
I'm not sure clinging on to a guy for what he might do, perhaps, possibly, maybe now and then is the best way to go. He's either prepared to toughen up, knuckle down, and do the work to become more consistent, or he isn't.

Johnson is a hard worker
I reckon he is a fragile mind ...and I think Arthur believes he can fix him

If Mickey Arthur can do that I'll happily call him the 2nd Messiah, after Wayne Bennett, who got the talented but poorly disciplined rabble, St George, across the line for a Leeeeg premiership.

Indeed BD, I despair that the NSP can't recognise this fact. A highly spasmodic talent with a peaheart and dull brain. Cut him adrift.
