Or actually the series. Can anyone give any reason apart from total exploitation why this book has been split into 3 movies.

3 movies? Fark, I thought it was 2.

Yeah I can't really see where they'd split it for two really, the story is pretty simple and compact. Probably before the forest or when he's in there and the spiders come.

At least they wont have to leave ANYTHING out now. Laughing

The trouble is that they are adding things. Somehow Frodo is in the movie.

As long as they lob Freeman and Cumberpatch back quick enough to churn out some more Sherlocks, I DGAF if they're totally wrecking the story of some semi-classic.

They're out of source material for Sherlock as well unless their script writers think they're better at it than Conan Doyle.

No, there's quite a bit they could do. There's definitely a third series. Bastards are mooting Autumn 2013 though, which is shite.
