I'd hardly crucify Doh based on his performance on the Brisbane Hwy in Ashes 10-11.
And the Adelaide highway as well? He'll be up against better players of spin than England this time as well. From what I can remember, he bowled well for his first 10 overs or so, before tiring and dishing up short balls which KP and Cook murdered.
He has a first class bowling average in the 40s. Steve O'Keefe's bowling average is in the mid 20s. I can't understand why they don't give him a go.

That means both Glenn Maxwell and Moises Henriques could be on the plane.
Henriques had his right arm in a sling on Sunday after minor finger surgery on Saturday, but NSW medical staff are confident the injury is not serious.
Usman Khawaja, despite being overlooked for the second half of the one-day series against Sri Lanka and upcoming games against the Windies, remains in the box seat to fill the batting vacancy created by Michael Hussey's retirement.
The elegant left-hander was on standby for Michael Clarke in Melbourne and Sydney and is set to be a beneficiary of a panel wanting to maintain continuity and stability with their Test selections leading into the Ashes.
He is expected to be challenged for a Test berth by Steve Smith, whose ability to play spin will count in his favour. The 23-year-old did his chances of a call-up no harm by compiling a vital 72 in the Sheffield Shield for NSW on a spin-friendly wicket in Blacktown on Friday.
George Bailey is only an outside hope while David Hussey's stocks have plummeted after he failed to dispel notions he was susceptible against quality fast bowling in the series against Sri Lanka.
Steve O'Keefe's eight wickets in the Shield against Western Australia is unlikely to be enough to overtake Xavier Doherty, whose strong form in the international limited-overs arena has him favoured to be Nathan Lyon's understudy. Nor will it convince selectors to take a third specialist spinner despite the subcontinent traditionally being a haven for tweakers.
Michael Beer had been earmarked as the No. 2 spinner but a shoulder injury last week is likely to sideline him for six weeks.
could be the worse squad ever.
No Gavin Robertson or Graeme Beard selection this time, surely?

In a nutshell. Taking wickets on a helpful wicket against a weak state side is no indication he will succeed.

all the state sides are weak.

Damn straight, Nath. As weak as they've been since WSC cleaned out the states in the late 70s.

TBH, from a distance, I'd go for O'Keefe. Doherty is a tried and tested failure, his averages are awful, across the board. That, and the fact that limited over form is no indicator of FC potential.

Smith alreasdy has the over rated dubber spot for the tour

They will leave it as late as possible to give SOK, SF and Reeks every chance to play/bowl one decent innings to justify inclusion in the squad.

O'Keefe can bat as well. At a push he could play at seven if Aus want to play three quicks and two spinners.
Although that twat Maxwell is getting talked up. Shaun Marsh has probably missed his chance to push for a recall now.

Snigger that Watson is there. What does he average with the bat in his last 20 tests? 25? And of course he's not bowling now....

Dear God, Bernie has gone mad? SF AND Reeks in the same squad. And I repeat, just WTF has Yoody done to deserve a spot?
As Trev has already hinted, the Poms will be giggling at the prospect of facing this motley crew.

Re: Australian Squad for BanIndian series
SO from that squad, you could probably say the first choice XI will be something like-
Warner (if fit)
Watson
Hughes
Clarke(c)
Khawaja
Wade+
Maxwell
Johnson
Siddle
Bird
Lyon
Warner (if fit)
Watson
Hughes
Clarke(c)
Khawaja
Wade+
Maxwell
Johnson
Siddle
Bird
Lyon
