Re: Which team would win?
most depressing thread ever posted on FB....the 2nd option would win because it has fewer reps who currently play for the dubbers...
Hilditch, Ritchie, glawson, wellham, woodie. mcsoftie are more loathesome and inept than warner, fuse and schoolgirl
hilditch, Woodie and glawson have rained down the abject incompetence of that 80s team on the current state of Oz cricket...fatcat continues to be a useless lump of racist lard

I think Lawson and Mcdermott are better than anyone in the current team.

Wrong. As was proved beyond doubt in the South Africa series, playing 4 Victorians in any test side is a sure fire route to humiliation.

The present lot. The other team's getting on a bit at this stage.
But it might be close.
I notice you omitted Kim Hughes' squad.

was not talking about victorians...just the schoolgirl infused boil on the backside of Oz cricket - over rated dubbers

Re: Which team would win?
This Australian team defeated IND 4 nil last year and also played well against SA(for 90% of the series) so they are a very good side at HOME.

Re: Which team would win?
The last Australian Test lineup before Pup's derboo appears to have been:
Langer
Hayden
Ponting *
Martyn
Lehmann
Katich
Gilchrist +
Warne
Gillespie
Kasprowicz
McGrath
2nd Test v Sri Lanka @ Cairns, July 2004
http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/64092.html
They were quite good, but couldn't force a win v Marvan's Marvals in that Great Barrier Reef Barracuda-Off.
(I see Sanga, Mahela, Sam Weera and Mr Scoop were all in that team.)
I think they would have enough to fall over the line v Pup's Pupils, though.

Re: Which team would win?
PP makes a fair point- at home this Aus side is still very competitive. It's just that abroad (especially in the Sub Continent), they are as inept as India and Pakistan.

Except the team that beat India 4-0 had over 800 runs contributed by Ponting and Hussey.

Re: Which team would win?
Clarke will make runs. Warner will reinvent his way to an average of around 40 at home, Twatto the same. Wade will average mid 30s, and of course the young fast bowlers are one if the few bright spots for Aus.
That could work agai st most teams in Aus and even South Africa and Englabd. But the SC will likely be a struggle.

Our pace bowling stocks are quite reasonable ATM, and given a reasonable surface to bowl on, Aus should always be competitive. It's just to be competitive in India you need very high calibre quicks e.g. Pidg and Diz when we won on the Final Frontier tour.Henry wrote:PP makes a fair point- at home this Aus side is still very competitive. We knew what we were in for in India, it's just that our bowlers simply aren't good enough in Indian conditions.

I would have like Bird to play the role of Pidge in the first test. Seems like he was injured anyway though.

And you know what? F*ck rotation also. Patrons on should play this whole series if he's fit. He needs to bowl. He needs to fully feel a permanent member Of the Aus side.
Frankly, I think Australia's selectors deserve nothing less than the axe. Thoughts that Inverarity would be a wise old sage of Australian cricket have been proven wrong- he seems as bad as Hilditch.

Sage. Invers should fall on his sword after this abomination of a series.
