Re: Ashes Fantasy contest
My enforced 6 Aussies mightturn out to be a masterstroke. Runs for Rogers and my middle order of Clarke and Haddin currently going ballistic.
Siddle and Lyon to take the wickets.
Watson still sh!t though.

Re: Ashes Fantasy contest
Fark it. With KP in doubt for this test I moved the captaincy to Trott.

Re: Ashes Fantasy contest
When Pietersen was a doubt for this game, I replaced him with Root.

No. I'm of the belief that if you thought that James Pattycakeson could last 5 Tests then you should be punished with his continued inclusion.

You realise there's a 30 minute window from the teams announcement to the trade deadline to make changes?

Ah, but that's no good if you're a) stuck on a train between Derby and Nottingham or b) on the M6.baggygreen wrote:You realise there's a 30 minute window from the teams announcement to the trade deadline to make changes?

Re: Ashes Fantasy contest
I had Harris and Lyon in the side for Test 1 before the side was named ... after the sides were named I texted Ange while on the train to see if she could put Starc and Agar in for me, but she didn't get the text in time to do so.
Didn't get a chance to move Lyon (at least) aside for the second game either, so just left things as they were. Apathy set in before the third match so I again left things as they were, although Pattinson clearly wasn't going to play! This time I've made a change, finally dropping Pattinson for Siddle and putting Swann in over Lyon. Too little too late.

Re: Ashes Fantasy contest
I should have put Swann in for Lyon earlier! It's been a powerful hex.
I apologise to fellow Australian forumers for not choosing Bell and Broad. In my defence, my selections of Cook, Trott, and Prior have worked out very well for us and Pietersen's output has been reduced by his involvement in my XI. I did my best with Anderson, and I think it's starting to have an effect, as has Swann's call-up.
More big innings from Root and Bell are anticipated.

Did anyone pre-series choose Haddin to be their keeper ... and if so, on what basis?

Re: Ashes Fantasy contest
Have Buck, Cook and Trott. Replaced KP last week with Rogers which was shocking.
I think the only reason pre-series to select Haddin would be to have your 6 poms in the other positions.

I did. Haddin usually gets runs against England.lardbucket wrote:Did anyone pre-series choose Haddin to be their keeper ... and if so, on what basis?
Re: Ashes Fantasy contest
My decision to stick with Cook and Trott ("they'll come good eventually") and refusal to draft in Bell ("he's made his runs for the series") has left me languishing in 13th. My pre-series strategy of making Prior captain ("scores runs consistently and will take dozens of catches off the seamers") also turned out to be a turkey.
I suck at this.
