West Indies v Pakistan, 2nd T20, Kingston, 28 July, 2013
1st one was decided on the last ball. Can this one be anywhere near as tight?

One of the recent JAMODIs was possibly decided before the first ball, according to some newspaper reports today...

The implication from the story is that both sides were at it.
IF there is substance to the accusations and IF players are found guilty of cheating - what then? In the case of Pakistan, clearly lessons would not have been learned from the experience of Salman Butt etc, so what sort of punishment is going to act as a deterrent - suspend Pakistan from international cricket? Life bans for any guilty players?
It's all supposition until the facts are known but I think there's a case for regarding all the players guilty by association whether they actually cheated or not - and suspending the lot of them. Draconian? - it certainly is, but name another sanction that's going to be effective.

If Pakistan has another incident of proven fixing in international cricket they should be suspended from the game for some years or demoted to associate status. While every country has probably had instances of corruption it just seems in a different league there in terms of how the allegations keep surfacing.
It also highlights the problem of playing WGAF JAMODI series just after a global tournament and while the Ashes is going on...

Where do i start?
Too many IFs and Salman Butts to start with and then other shamelessly bias comments. Has to be the funniest post since Shoaib Malik's wedding.

Nice.
Re: West Indies v Pakistan, 2nd T20, Kingston, 28 July, 2013
Salman Butt was found guilty in a court of law, that's not bias - it's fact. If you care to take your "Pakistan right or wrong" glasses off and re-read my post carefully, you will find not one shred of bias.

Basil, we will talk about it when something is proven or an arrest is made.
In the meantime there is a VERY important match(for the WI) that is about to be played that includes world class talents like Samules, Shahid bhai and Tino Best.

Was watching cricket writers on TV... f*ck me Derek Pringle and Vic Marks seem to be two of the most facetious, supercilious, smarmy and presumptuous lazy journalists going - neither of them particularly added a professional opinion, apart from once or twice each - the pathetic quips detracted from Drongo Allott's points before they even started prattling on. Anyway, I digress, Sam Peters reckons that for the ICC ACSU to get involved, it has to be more than some mere accusation, as far as his conversations with the ICC have gone.

I was going to take your post seriously until you used "Samuels" and "world class" in the same sentence.

And how fat is Pringle?
Anyway, I agree - the only journos with anything worth listening to are the ones like Simon Wilde and Scyld Berry who never played professionally. I would make an exception for Mike Selvey though.

He's so corpulent that he reminded me of a slug in a suit - he and Marks were both like horrendous little schoolboys. The worst is Brenkley who stuffs his face when he's supposed to be talking - incredibly unprofessional IMO. I quite like Andrew Miller and Gideon Haigh as well, but they never seem to have few enough twats that they can get a decent conversation going.

I'd give Allott the arse as well and get Charlie Colville to anchor the programme (the "w" is silent!)

Yeah, must admit I'm half-warming to Colville - by default really. Allott, for instance, can hardly get a word out without having to force it. Lemons.
Re: West Indies v Pakistan, 2nd T20, Kingston, 28 July, 2013
Samules is a stunning talent, he has wasted it for several years but after his comeback in 2010-11 ish he has played some great innings! He is the reason why W Indian won the T20 world cup.
Gayle on the other hand has gone downhill because he is too busy playing T20 leagues.

Oh I see, we're talking about 20/20 cricket - not the true test of a cricketer, i.e. test cricket.

TBF Samuels would be considered world class in Pakistan. He is a chucker and a match fixer.

If you hate cricket journalists, just wait until their football equivalents are back on screen in a couple of weeks...Basil wrote:Brass Monkey wrote:Basil wrote:

Still averages less than 40 in test cricket. What is it with you anyway - most of the players you admire are known cheats.
