Well that's the crap thing about FC status - it is at the whim of the local Board.

Prior has a torn calf, so it looks like Johnny B Crap will play in the tour game and, likely, the first test. Disaster.

Can't Root do the job? SA use AB there to give them an extra batsman.Neil D wrote:Prior has a torn calf, so it looks like Johnny B Crap will play in the tour game and, likely, the first test. Disaster.
Clarke thinks eleven of the twelve players equals no-brainer selections for Brisbane. Seems that Bailey's ODI form has gained him the place ahead of Doolan.
Beefy doesn't think it matters who we select as the poms will win 5-0. Obviously McGrath has passed the baton to him.

On the flipside, Johnny B scored a lot more runs than Matty P in the summer's Ashes, so maybe it's a trade up.Neil D wrote:Prior has a torn calf, so it looks like Johnny B Crap will play in the tour game and, likely, the first test. Disaster.
Yeah... it's not a trade up.
Who's the development squad keeper? Are they even out there yet?
Re: Aus Inv XI v England XI, Sydney, 13-16 November, 2013
Answering my own question: Buttler. And no.
Re: Aus Inv XI v England XI, Sydney, 13-16 November, 2013
Ent too bothered about Jonny Knicks having to keep. Prior had a shocking Ashes and it means we're not treating Knicksy as a batsman who can play properly.
Re: Aus Inv XI v England XI, Sydney, 13-16 November, 2013
Jesus - anyone but the Ginga.
Give Root the gloves now that he'll bat lower down the order.
Keep Bairstow away from the test team FFS.
I'd rather give the Ballancing act one last dig as the extra batsman.

Well, ... lasting about 5 balls in 3 innings doesn't exactly give him a jetpack.

AND they're off.
AND Finch is out.
A_N_D it's on the CA site. Even half way round the world. Tho no sound and jittery-staggery, of course.

Eng seem to be playing their Test team, apart from Finn for Anderson and Bairstow (if Prior doesn't make it).
Unless Ranking (playing) is poor, and they go with Tremlett (not playing), I suppose.
LOL First-change Finn goes though a long routine of limbering-up exs, bowls the first one to bounce twice the batsman's height, then gets clubbed for two or three boundaries. A miniature tragicomedy right there.

Cowan gone too, also to Broad.
One of the few Aussies in this team I've heard of.

Ah. Possibly.
The video was breaking up by then. It's gone altogether now!

I should perhaps explain that the CA vidstream had no commentary, no scoreboards, no text ... the fact that Ferguson had a red helmet and seems to be right-handed is neither here nor there
Now Patterson Kurtis goes too, to Finn (!), apparently a decent slip catch by Capt Cook.
(In other words, I switched to the bbc site and its apparently reliable audio commentary - and found a third wicket had gone.)

Part time dubber Carters is closing in on a ton. No doubt the NSW mafia will be running with stories tomorrow that he is the next Bradman & should be rushed into the test squad.
Re: Aus Inv XI v England XI, Sydney, 13-16 November, 2013
The third seamer's a real problem for England. Tremlett's lost his pace and doesn't take wickets any more, Finn gets more scattergun by the game and is showing no signs of improvement and Rankin is probably a decent county player promoted above his abilities.

Have to admit - I'm on the Brezzy Lad bandwagon - I've no confidence in the other three.

Nephew's got enough to deal with. He's constantly having to mop up the gallons of gush that comes his way, such as "ohhhh, LOOK! Joe Root can eat a sandwich with one hand!!", "golly, if he wasn't a cricketer he could be a professional X-Box player", "Root never ceases to astound me. Not only has he fielded at fine leg this innings, he's also fielded at deep backward square... gadzooks".embee wrote:Joe Root could be your third seamer

You're just embarrassing yourself now, mate. Joseph is the greatest thing to come out of Yorkshire since David Byas. Or even Glen Chapple.
Fine uncle YOU are.
