Er....[i]de facto[i] buying the 'rights' to the publicity for the next hoo-haa that blows up when one of their mikes catches somebody saying a Naughty Word?tricycle wrote:http://www.cricket.com.au/news-list/2013/11/25/michael-clarke-fined-20-per-cent-match-fee-for-sledge-at-james-anderson-in-first-ashes-test
Why are 9 apologising for Clarke's misdemeanours?

Indeed. The arrangement is that the microphone is only to be turned up during delivers to enhance snicks, double noises and the like, not to be left on to accidentally pick up profanities, recognising that such profanity is commonplace.

Re: Australia v England, 1st Test, Brisbane, 21-25 November, 2013
Was in Cape Town and after the 2nd day stopped checking the scores as decided I wanted to have a nice time. Glad I did, but having caught up now.... Jesus! What a pasting.
Not quite sure why Clarke needed to sledge Jimmy when they were 400 runs ahead, but it probably bodes well for Australian cricket as the last time they had a set of qunts like this they went on to dominate for years.
Thought this series would be a lot different to the one in England but it looks like it might be catastrophic at this rate. Can't believe that Johnson is the man to f*ck us after the last series in Aus!

As discussed elsewhere, it was Anderson who started the sledging & Clarke was just defending his players.vilkrang wrote:Was in Cape Town and after the 2nd day stopped checking the scores as decided I wanted to have a nice time. Glad I did, but having caught up now.... Jesus! What a pasting.

Are you SURE, BD?
Whose word are you going on? The quickly-retracted rumour of a (*cough, pathological liar, cough*) repeatedly rather unreliable source such as (you know who)?

Wasn't the dominance of Haddin time and again *from losing batting positions* the even more decisive feature?
FWIW, despite Midge's hatfuls of wickets against criminally unprepared and increasingly intimidated/hopeless Pom batters, with the wind in his sails virtually from the outset (thanks to the sizeable Oz batting recoveries that preceded his spells), I would say that the Australian wicketkeeper - in particular as a consistently counter-attacking, match-turning batsman - is certainly the most deserving of any MoS award.

Of sure about than. Red has done a pretty good job on the Indians.
