Congratulations to those Aussies ....
(While we're in all-too-rare celebratory mode ...)
Congratulations to those Aussies who have shown good grace, humour and a certain amount of resilience through four bad years, and have finally come out with a big Christmas present at the other end.
It's an art, a valuable human art, giving credit where it is due, - and by the same token, not calling for mass lynchings, eviscerations or fire-bombings of your own side, or rabid champing for revenge on the hated enemy, during the fallow years.
To the patient, the wins are sweeter. There is no surviving taste of venom.
You know who you are. I will just mention as one example Skully, for his sins, who despite a wild "false Cassandra" syndrome (dreading disaster every step of the way), was generous to the Poms on previous occasions, and only occasionally wished a small and perhaps survivable plague on a select few representatives of the nation of Australia.
Happy Christmas, mate!

Re: Congratulations to those Aussies ....
Well cheers, Petey. On matters cricket supporting, I know both parties suffer highs and lows, but are equally passionate about their teams. I will always enjoy the highs, but equally will always acknowledge the joy my English colleagues feel when England gives Aus a touch up.
Cricket - so impossibly English - and Australian.
And a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours.
