Re: World Cup 2015
I wouldn't mind NZ. I used to want the WI to win, but TBH, they're as FIGJAM as Aus/Ind/Eng. No humility between the four of them. That's what money breeds. Football went the same way in the 90's. Now it's just full of the biggest wankstains you're ever likely to see.
Re: World Cup 2015
BM - agree re windies...I have just about given up on them.
Certainly do not want Bannies/Eng to win...and while they have the best team, as a traditionalist I would like to see the traditional saffie choke continue. Oz are not good enough and have enough silverware...so I as I said earlier I would like an up and comer team to win

Phuuuuuurt. You can NEVER have enough silverware!! What is this - a benevolent society?? Fark the up and comers
Realistically, this will probably be won by India or Sri Lanka, or maybe NZ or Pak as smokies. SAf might exorcise the choking demons, but I doubt it.

it's JAMWC Skully when all is said and done. It is a bread and circuses TV event. Sure there is always more room for silverware but I expect this one will be a silver KFC bucket.

It's been long established on this forum that the only JAMODIs that matter are Gilly JAMODIs.

the Asian soccer cup has got a few decent crowds...I wonder if the Gilly will get similar...The Tower of BaBL has got monstro crowds especially in cricket fan backwaters like Adelaide and Perth ... I doubt that there are few beyond the likes of Taipan and Woody wgara about the result...

Re: World Cup 2015
Form guide 2 1/2 weeks out-
Aus- Favourites on home soil. Winning most games, but would a loss or two actually be beneficial to them in order to stay focussed and not let complacency seep in?
New Zealand- Joint favourites, probably. Like Aus, they appear almost unbeatable on home soil. I'm a bit worried about how much cricket they've played in the last four months, though. Will that catch up with them towards the business end of the World Cup?
South Africa- Look pretty good, but they're playing a team in disarray (the Windies) on their home grounds, so it's hard to really gauge where they're at at the moment. Australian and New Zealand conditions will be a different story. As usual, they look favourites on paper. As usual, everyone suspects they might f*ck up.
India- Suddenly looking shaky, but you wonder whether they just couldn't be f*cked at the moment and are saving all their energy and passion for the World Cup. It's a dangerous strategy. It would be a Dhoni strategy. Their batting will likely make enough runs, but as usual their bowling is looking suspect.
England- Still not overly convincing. If one part of the batting improves, another part of it seems to break down. The bowling is reasonable, but nothing threatening and looks a bit samey. Still rank outsiders, and they're still not sure what their best team is.
Pakistan- Who the hell knows. They've been beaten twice recently by a team of New Zealand club cricketers. But hey, as usual they have talent. If they get on a roll they'll be dangerous, as usual.
Sri Lanka- They were looking the goods a couple of months ago, but since that unexpected tour of India back in November, the wheels have come off a bit. Still, they always seem to be competitive at World Cups, and their batting in particular has some truly classy players.
West Indies- In disarray both on and off the field, really. But again, who knows. Like Pakistan they have some very talented players who on their day can cause headaches. Doubtful they can do it consistently enough for long enough to win the World Cup.
Bangladesh- They haven't played much recently. I assume they're in Australia/New Zealand already? May as well be, to get used to conditions. They just need to make sure they beat all the teams they're supposed to beat, and put up a reasonable fight against the big teams.
Ireland- Arguably better than Bangladesh. Hopefully they can pull of another upset along the line.
Afghanistan- See Ireland
Zimbabwe- Capable of an upset as we saw against Australia a few months back. Unlikely to progress to the next round, though.
Who else is playing? Scotland? They might cause an upset against Bangladesh. UAE? No idea. I assume rubbish.
My upset predictions- Ireland to beat West Indies on February 16th.
Ultimately, the tournament is once again too long. It's good that the ICC is learning.....

Narine out; that hurts the Windies.
Pollard or Bravo to come in as his 'replacement'?

Pollard's grandma has a better chance of selection than those two...the WI administrators make CA look like princes of decent managerialism by comparison

Scotland (13)
Pool B

Aye beams, was obviously from mid last year or so.
Pool A is the Group of Death with 4 good teams, Eng, Aus, SL and NZ, while Pool B only has SAf and India (with maybe an occasional effort by the Wackies).
