Didn't they come to some sort of "compromise" of a qualifying tournament of sorts? Ireland, if they remain competitive, would stand every chance against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, and probably England and the West Indies as well.

Some effort to chase 300 after letting WI off the hook with the ball. Still need a lot to go through as WI wll probably beat someone half decent and take it down to NRR, and obviously the Irish have to overcome Zimbabwe as well.

Well done the Irish, both in Dublin and in Nelson.

Aye, total bullshit. The prospect of minnow upsets is one of the great things in a WC.

The next World Cup is going to feel more like the Champions Trophy than the World Cup.

It's getting harder to imagine the West Indies still playing together as a region at the next World Cup. I think a break-up is imminent.

Yeah, but they don't go around dicking with their board and having some of their better players sidelined because of it.

I don't think there's as much pride in actual performance, I see a lot more imperfection in every international side nowadays, as they don't really need to execute their skills consistently to make a lot of money. WI are the epitome of this.

IMHO the biggest problem is Gayle. He was whining in South Africa about the selections. I feel sorry for Holder. Talk about a poisoned chalice.

Gayle isn't really worth his salt anymore, carthorse in the field and only glimpses of brutality with the bat, amongst a lot of awkward crabbery. Can't be easy for young Holder.

He doesn't even pretend to look interested anymore. Even though the windies appeared to do well to get 300+ it took them a long time to recover from the lack of urgency shown at the top of the order.

I was wondering where Shiv Chanderpaul was... turns out he hasn't played a JAMODI for 4 years, that's how much attention I obviously pay to WI cricket (particularly the pyjama version) these days 

Amazingly there has only been 5 successful 300+ run chases in World Cup games and Ireland own 3 of them including the highest against England.
