Re: World Cup 2015 (IV)
One of the great joys of Australian sporting crowds is the stick they give nobs...the look of confusion on Srinivasan's face when he was booed was priceless.
Similar treatment was handed out to Sepp Blatter at the Asia Cup Final (who looked dumbfounded) while F1 Bernie has also copped his share when on the dais

Brass Monkey wrote:I read the Baum article, didn't know what to make of it really, as I didn't see the end of the match... seems to be going a little overboard. Haddin is awful though, just a terrible sportsman. This does strike a familiar chord:
"What is objectionable is the snark, the cattiness, the hissing, the goads and provocations, the infantilism. What is objectionable is the faux offence taken should an opponent be so impertinent as to reply. "
Think Baum was quite passionate about this issue because he was reacting to a number of letters to his newspaper in the lead-up to the WC final. Many readers expressed the desire for the kiwis to win based on what they described as boorish and arrogant tendencies by the Aussie players. They feel that they're difficult to love. Baum is a veteran cricket reporter and was a critic of the Warne/McGrath/Hayden teams for behavourial issues. He obviously sees some parallels between Haddin's antics and the erstwhile demeanor of Aussie teams when they were top of the world but indisputably arrogant too.

The better they play, the more arrogant, boorish, and quntish they get.
Someone has surely pointed out to them that it's a terrible characteristic to have. They're just not very nice human beings.

Aye, look at England. A more decent bunch of losers you couldn't find (except for Jimmeh - he's a right qunt).

Re: World Cup 2015 (IV)
Being a qunt to an opposition player tends to get them riled up and makes them play worse, hence why a lot of sportsmen do it, not just cricketers.
It's also why on the rare occasion you get a team/sportsman who displays good sportsmanship and also wins that they are loved and remembered far more than the endless supply of tossers that sport produces.
Nobody outside of Australia will remember the Warne era Australians with any fondness whereas (for example) Roger Federer is loved the world over.

So is McEnroe.

Forgive me if I'm wrong as he was before my time, but wasn't he more of a qunt to the umpires than to opposition players? From what I've seen, his most famous matches were played with good sportsmanship.
Again, happy to be proved wrong, never saw any of his matches live.

Might be worth adding the warm applause Tendulkar received from the Aust and NZ fans at the WC presentation.

I'm only surprised you didn't spell that as 'Boers' and claim that it was a typo!

Well i guess it takes one to know one.
Re: World Cup 2015 (IV)
I tend to agree with horrie. Anderson, Broad, Prior and Swann gave it to us deluxe in 10-11 when they were raping us. Our triumvirate of gashlordishness is mainly the 3 that horrie suggested.
Still, IDGAF if the world judges Aussies as qunts. It's a lame line - "Oh congrats to Aus for being the best in the world, but BTW, they're still a pack of qunts". If it makes Englishmen feel better to do that, have at it.

Is that at me? If so, I thought I'd already agreed with you. Never liked Hayden, thought Harbhajan was a qunt, Tendulkar never committed any obvious sins on the field.
The Windians seem to be universally loved. Not many qunts.
