Should ACB employ a draft system for players yet to make a 1st class debut, similar to AFL?

Perhaps each state could have 2 picks each. Each would be required - barring injury to select at least one of the two in any first class match.

Would help bring on ypung talent, eliminate some of the faithful old retainers and even up the competition.

The jellies and the billies are barely grade standard nowadays and this may be a way of evening up the shield

It seems the race for the English coach job is down to two Australians - Gillespie and the BNLG.

Langer would fit right in with the gin swilling establishment and merlin types who run pom cricket

7th team to be added to Matador Cup
http://www.cricket.com.au/news/cricket-australia-introduce-ca-xi-new-team-matador-one-day-cup-competition-young-stars/2015-05-12

The introduction of a new team, called the CA XI, is a two-year trial, with the squad comprised of players from around the country who narrowly missed out on selection by their respective states.

The squad will be chosen by State Talent Managers and guided by the National Selection Panel, with an eye to fast-tracking the development of promising players.

HOW IT WORKS

- Six states choose their 15-player Matador One-Day Cup squads

- The State Talent Managers and NSP then pick the CA XI squad from the remaining unselected players

- Troy Cooley to coach, Graeme Hick to assist

- Matador Cup to run in its tournament format as it has done in the previous two seasons

Confirms what has been an open secret....

Good that little Brazen gets a gig as batting coach.

But having 0/113 as bowling coach is a bit of a worry. I am all for the Vics playing positive cricket, but bowling pies to encourage positive cricket from the opposition is to be avoided.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-05-21/australia27s-female-domestic-cricketers-get-pay-rise/6487232?section=sport

Australia's female domestic cricketers have been given a pay rise.

A $600,000 investment by Cricket Australia (CA) and the state and territory associations will more than double the best state players' pay to $17,000.

In addition to these domestic payments, CA-contracted cricketers can earn retainers of more than $50,000 plus tour payments, lifting potential earnings to $85,000 over the coming year.

The investment will take the total Women's Payment Fund to $2.26 million - up 36 per cent on last year.
