I have seen the little critters near Mt Rainier in Washington State. From 12 feet. They whistle, to warn of danger. They are also called groundhogs. They are irresistible furry little feckers. Unfortunately also to passing eagles and buzzards. Esp as they tend to nod off on the feckin' rocks. Hence the feckin' whistle.
