Decent recovery from England after 2-12 & 3-49 start.

We talked a fair bit about the thinness of the SAf batting during the recent Indian series, but the bowling sans Snorkel looks just as thin. The SAf team is the AB-Stain show these days.

Did you mean sans Steyn? Morkel and Abbott were too short for most of the day.

No, I meant sans Morkel. I thought he was still injured!!!
So if the Ostrich bowled badly, then SAf really does consist of just ABdV and Stain.

Dire collapse, ironically when the pitch has looked much better for batting. Thank the stars that Broad and Finn have bothered to try
Re: South Africa v England, 1st Test, Durban, 26-30 December, 2015
Topsy turvy effort by England, but 303 in the end is pretty decent.
Seems Snorkel got things together on day 2. Well done to Compton, then Sturat and Shark at the end.

Phwoar, that was a peach from Broad. Shite from van Zyl mind you, but a 90mph ball searing into off stump from around that wicket, all the same.
Re: South Africa v England, 1st Test, Durban, 26-30 December, 2015
Van Zyl isn't an opener. Somehow selectors fail to understand this.

I'm a fan of Graeme Smith's commentary.

Bairstow's cat-like reflexes in evidence again. Sigh.

That drop plus the non-review - England's Xmas presents to Amla?

Good work - 3rd time lucky. Great bowling Broad - thankfully Jonny didn't have to mvoe for that one.

Yeah, that was a lovely ball - turned Amla inside out. Broad's proper on one

Alma's trigger movement has gone. A year ago his back leg would have been across outside off and made it an easy block.

That was a catch by Stokes - TV foreshortening or not, when you can see someones fingers under the ball then trust your eyes.

Personally I thought it was out but when the fielder himself isn't sure it created uncertainty.

It looked clean to me. Another weak decision IMO

Apart from having been out once already, I agree. Reckon he will go onto score heavily.
