Politics thread. Boris, are you with him or against his latest thoughts?
I think he's a cartoon-esque character, playful with good and bad political views (for the record i dislike both major UK parties in almost equal amounts). But he's no worse than endless others i could name.
But we have to have free speech for all, not just for some. The full covering does look ridiculous in 2018 and is oppressive to the millions of women forced from a very young age to accept that it's how they have to be. Boris is right about that and is entitled to that view, held, incidentally by 82% of people in a snap ITV poll held this week. I often work in the middle east and the female and child oppression i see quite often is horrific, as is the animal ritual torture and the gay abuse and even gay murder. Young child marriage in 2018, to men 3 times their age is a sickening look at the evil 6th century. We won't even delve into F G M.
It seems like it is absolutely fine to abuse Farage, Trump, May, Robinson, Rees-Mogg, Davies and many others on all sides, but no criticism of the religion of peace (erm, really?) is permitted, Let's have true free speech, not free speech as long as someone, somewhere isn't going to be offended because of their cranky beliefs. I was offended by the sight of 4 wives barely 14 years old with their (chosen for them) husband at least 40 years old last month. He was probably nearer 50 actually. Vile.

The problem is that white politicians saying these things will just inflame tensions, which is the last thing we need right now. Leave it to the Muslim community itself to challenge the more extreme and archaic elements within it.
What people do in the Middle East is certainly none of our business, we’ve interfered enough times and just poured petrol on the flames, there’s nothing more the West can achieve, let’s sort out our own problems and leave them to it. Obviously people of whatever religion who live in this country have to comply with our laws, so a lot of the things you mention are covered off there anyway.

Leftard and PC politicians aided by a politically correct media are imposing Sharia blasphemy laws by default in the west, often under the guise of multiculturalism. In Australia people are being censored, silenced, vilified & even sacked for stating their opinions on a range of social issues. In Melbourne there are serious Sudanese youth gang problems but the premier of Victoria & the police commissioner won't even acknowledge a problem exists for fear of being labeled racists. Politicians need to stop chanting the multicultural mantra & start using a bit of common sense, even if 'offends' some minority groups.

.
The problem is that they won't for fear of being accused of being unislamic. The hate preachers in the Mosques & Madrasa's have too great a hold on the sheep who follow.

It seems bizarre that the Libtards defend the right of Muslim males to oppress their women. Its a strange, strange world we live in.

What’s the answer then - other than the “poke the crocodile with a stick” one? You can’t try and eradicate a religion (someone did try that once, I believe...) and persuasion’s not going to work.
For an example in reverse, the majority of us in the Western world eat meat and drink alcohol... how would we feel if someone in a far away country started preaching at us and threatening us and telling us to stop such barbaric and immoral practices? At best we’d say “stay out of our business”, at worst people would be saying “nuke the crap out of them”.

Quite correct. Maybe we should stop preaching and let them get on with their shit.
And maybe we should tell their citizens who are residing in our world to STFU.

Churchill had that attitude to most. He's generally despised round my parts. To give him his due, he earnt that reputation.Big Dog wrote:Churchill wrote:"Islam is more dangerous in a man than rabies in a dog."
Agree with the two previous posts. Just follow the law of the land.

Wonder how different things would've been if the 79 siege didn't happen and the Saudis didn't buckle to the ultra orthodox ulema.

What Boris wrote was insulting and obnoxious but fell short of bigotry. He thinks he has tapped into an upwelling of public opinion in the UK. He has no shame. He will sell his family into slavery to become PM. Perhaps he might split the Tory party once and for all. Not before time imo, as is riven to the core between the nationalist right and the old one nation Tories.

There's not many decent people in high end politics. Self serving sociopaths are more the norm (just look at the expenses scandal for example (you'll also note Corbyn was consistently the lowest claimer for many years). I don't agree with all of his views, particularly on defence, but I'm glad that one of the only decent people left in politics is leader of the opposition.

Corbyn is a decent person? Are you back on the hard stuff?
Or maybe you think terrorists are also good people.

Corbyn is a vile little worm who has stood shoulder to shoulder with many even more vile people including those leading countries which routinely abuse their own people and ban any form of minority rights.
