Next Oz Captain?
Craddock today reported (interview on SEN) that Smith publicly called for Cummins to replace Fink as white ball and Paine as Test skipper. Smith is of course eligible next month.
Crash noted Cummins has not captained a team since he was in the U 13s and said the Spivs need to make him skipper of the State team. Also said the Billies should make Manus their skipper.
All interesting but I doubt Fink, Paine, or Cummins would be too happy about Smith mouthing off. I wonder what the nobs at CA are thinking.

Re: Next Oz Captain?
cummins is already vc
i dont think its too big a leap to say that he is half endorsed by CA to take over as captain
fink and paine are the wrong side of 33
the alternative is puddle

are you sure you didn't mean Clarke publicly backing Cummins?

Well Carey has often been touted as an heir apparent, but he doesn't look convincing atm.

Re: Next Oz Captain?
A fast bowler as captain is only ever a stopgap, due to injuries and workload issues, as well as the general inability to field in “captaincy” positions in many cases.

Re: Next Oz Captain?
Why wouldn't they give it to the guy Dello called 'Labia Shane'? The best captain Aus never had right there in his name.
Speaking of Warnie, they could get two skippers for the price of one if they offered his pal Michael Clarke the incentives to return.
But hey, let's stop all the shadowplay? When we all know the baggy green with the gold button on the top is waiting impatiently in a brown paper bag somewhere for Steve Smith to finish serving his time. Then he'll be back on his bike and directing traffic like nothing happened.
Whereas, by rights, they should offer a bit more cashand a lot more support to Tim Paine than ever evident hitherto. He had the wood on England, for a start.

Yeah Smith, Clarke and Ponting were rocket scientists. Getting some non bogans into leadership positions might help. At least you don't cringe when Paine has to address the media or does an interview. CA probably save on speech therapists, special ed teachers and flash cards.

Aren't we going to Bangladesh in July. Will probably be safe enough to play there. Might need to have a two week quarantine though.
