One wonders what Fred Trueman (if he was still alive, God love him) would think of all this.

ECB apparently* needs to be seen to be doing the "right" thing.

Ironic that Ollie may be replaced by "Woake"s.
Well they can’t be hypocritical and claim to be anti-racism if they let something like this go, however long ago it is. By chance there weren’t any black or Asian players in the team this week, but I can’t imagine they’d have been thrilled about the situation if they had to play alongside him. The last thing they need is a major split in the squad. Not forgetting the fact that ethnic minorities make up a lot of England’s support (as do women, for that matter).

If he really isn’t that person any more it’s unfortunate for him that it might derail his career, but if that’s the case he really should have deleted/wiped that account. So not too much sympathy for him simply on the grounds of stupidity.

At an age when you're most likely to be a moron, this guy went to a medium which breeds moronic behavior and.....most likely even a moron can guess what happened next.

And hey presto! A Media Event, and Round 167276 in The Culture Wank War, featuring the usual tedious posturing and chest-thumping. And both my left and right ears are enduring the same fingernails-down-the-blackboard racket.

(WTF did he actually say???? Every pub up one side and back down the other of the M1 would have at least one bar-thumper who swears, er, black and blue that they have a mate who used to play rugby with Ollie's cousin's doctor's wife's hairdresser's next door neighbour etc  and releasing his pearls of wisdom would at least shut those clowns up.)

They can easily be found in news articles online and screenshots on Twatter... a mixture really, a couple of Asian/Muslim “jokes”, one casual use of the N-word (with “-a” as opposed to “-er” ending and unclear context, clearly not using it as a direct term of racial abuse, but there’s no excuse for white people to have it in their everyday vocabulary in any sense given the weight it carries - would an 18-year-old realise that having been exposed to it in music etc., I suppose that’s a point for debate).

The Government pouring petrol on the flames now, completely unnecessary.

Anyway, I guess we have to nickname him “Tommy” from now on...
