Dhoni - Case of "Misplaced faith" or
"absolute power absolutely corrupts" or "Pressure getting to him"
The way he kept Viru out and pedalled some tripe about fitness, his insistence on Irfan coming at No #3 and later defending it vehemently, the way he is blindly backing Yuvraj despite good replacements like Tiwary being made to warm the bench and his obstinate defence of this approach in public, his public castigation of Rohit Sharma on the pitch and in the press later for the run out makes one really wonder.
To me Dhoni still has question marks on his test place despite his improved keeping, his fitness does not seem to be that great of late either. With all this his hard approach towards some guys and the blind backing towards others could easily cause a divide.
If Dhoni feels that he has cemented his place and the Captaincy in all forms is just a matter of time, then he is wrong, very wrong.
Dhoni has been impressive in many fronts but he needs to be tactful with some of the way he has come across of late.

I'd back DK or Parthiv Patel's batting any day in tests than Dhoni's. Give Karthick a whole year in tests like Dhoni and he will out perform Dhoni on all fronts.
Unfortunately, these days the ODI ballistics on absolute dishes are the criteria to measure greatness in India in tests, when it is the other way round in the rest of the world.

Not exactly that way, but they do place more premium on test performances over one day performances. Being good in one dayers didn't get anyone captaincy of any kind on such a short notice either. There must have been some short experiments in the past of the England Adam Hollioke kind briefly, but there are maybe a couple of exceptions to this phenomenon.
