I'm already losing interest. And I think I know why....
Let me ask you a question Indian fans - is it possible to really 'support' these teams? Because that's what sport comes down to. The sport on offer has to 'matter' to the players and spectators.
It would be like 8 new franchises being set up in the UK and then being asked to suddenly have an emotional tie to them overnight. In the long term for Indians of course it may well matter to them but for the rest of the world just a passing interest in the long run.
I follow county cricket because I've followed my team for years, but I accept it has little interest with overseas fans - similarly I don't care what happens in Aussie domestic cricket either.
All this basically is, is Indian domestic cricket.
Now Essex v Mumbai and my interest is suddenly a lot greater. I look forward to a possible champions league with state v county v province style fixtures.

Chennai win. Hussey scores a ton, and he was not being 'bought' by any of the teams.

JKL: you can grow an emotional bond with a team if you give it time and follow it. Would you feel differently if there were some English players in any of the IPL teams?
I see your point, would be great to see County Twenty20 teams playing against the IPL teams. Maybe that'll happen too, one day.

Maybe more interest in following the English players. But no more than say for example when English players have played in Aus/NZ/SA domestic cricket.

Top knock by Hussey. He looks in stellar form. And he was openly very supportive of his young Indian team mates. They will all benefit greatly from this tournament.

Aye. Actually, all the Aussies I've seen so far seem to be on very good terms with their team-mates.
