Re: KP in line for record IPL contract
BTW has KP done a backflip? Earlier this year he was saying the pommy players didn't need to join the IPL and he was happy with the money he was getting via the ECB.
He's been dead keen on playing in the IPL ever since the first player auction took place. Since then he's said that the England players will grudgingly agree to not play in the tournament this year, but are likely to rebel if the ECB says they can't play next year.

I haven't watched any match for its entire duration. Just some overs here and there in 9-10 out of 40-odd IPL matches being played so far.taipan wrote:SG wrote:IMO,

Where did he say he's likely to rebel? Have you just made that up?

He said something like,"I think there could be several England players seriously considering their options next season if the ECB refuses to allow them to play in the IPL."
What else could that mean?

Re: KP in line for record IPL contract
this pretty much sums it up
"I do wonder how long I'm going to do this for," he said. "Time will tell. I could get injured tomorrow and would be finished. That's why I was frustrated and irritated when we weren't allowed to go to India. I definitely want to go next year."
It had been mooted in some quarters that Pietersen could chose to go freelance if the ECB didn't accede to his demands, but he denied that this had entered his thoughts. "Turning down a central contract is not something that has entered my head yet," he said, "but it would be horrendous if four or five of England's best players decided to do that and go to India instead. We should not be in a position where we have to choose. No one else had to."
