Brass Monkey wrote:I'm not even debating that Strauss 'has been worked out'. I said that Strauss 'changed his game, by accident or on purpose, before the bowlers learnt how to bowl to him'. It's plain to see, he just started leaving or nibbling at balls he used to get forward to and drive at. He just started playing way too square and he did that all by himself.
Look it's debatable on how or why he changed his game. Let's just agree that the end result has been the same.

Watching his whole career, probably innings by innings, I'm not sure it is debatable. But anyway, yeah the end result is the same - he can no longer play down the ground and therefore is completely shithouse in comparison to how he was and it's damned disappointing that a bloke with so much apparent nous can't even begin to fathom what is going wrong. Sad in a way.

Okay Danny. More pressed for time than of yore.
I should be applying for a different job. ...
I hope all is well in the South East Midlands North of the Old Smoke. Chavs apart.

The chavs are still chavvin' it and their clown pendants grow ever bigger... with no confrontation... their clown pendants aren't qualified!
Anyway, yeah cool mate this way.
Different job? Writing puns for the Sun no doubt.

Well that's good.
Sadly no call from Murdoch's brightest yet.

Hmmm, well you don't want to work with a load of Nazis anyway. Maybe the more subtle of the punners like the Observer or something.
Re: Paul Collingwood - yay or nay?
Ah, come on, they are hardly Nazis. Fascistoids possibly.
Would that I could, but I am the world's worst self-salesman.
Anyway, Colly ... fisture or fitting?

You have to 'know people' to get a job for a newspaper... i.e. the editor or the dinner lady.
Fisture or fitting? I think he got a fissure from fisting.
He needs some runs, we need a hardline on underperformance - it gets disgraceful at times how easily they retain their places, but I'd be sad to see him dropped as I like tough cricketers.
Re: Paul Collingwood - yay or nay?
I generally agree (about Colly).
You're right. Perhaps I meant fistula. In any case, another reason I am not up to journalism!

I think I saw that film... inaccurate rendition to say the least.

It is Sales, yeah. He lights it before he goes out to bat and barbecues sausages in between balls. He suggested putting sauce and a pump in the stumps, but the ECB wasn't up for it.

Yeah, think they stopped taking him seriously when the 'sausages for bails' idea was mooted.
Re: Paul Collingwood - yay or nay?
But his sausage gloves idea was a hit, all those years ago.

Yeah, they were banned after Goughie followed a delivery through with a chomping action and 'accidentally' ate one of his gloves.

He'd been a fan of Tyson for some years. Allegedly.
