Asia Cup
Matches against Hong Kong, UAE, Bangladesh and one of the weakest attacks Pakistan have put out. This tournament is straight out of Gambhir's wet dreams.

Actually, on reflection, JAMODI doesn't do this series justice. It's actually a SODIT

Superfluous One Day International Tournament.
It'll be in the glossary when the update is processed.

But that term goes to Afro Asian ODIs, doesn't it?

Re: Asia Cup
No these matches are brilliant! I can't wait for tomorrow's epic match at Karachi because normally only 11 Pakistani players play in 1 match but tomorrow as many as 19-20 Pakistanis will play

The term can, and should, be used widely.Chandan wrote:Zat wrote:Superfluous One Day International Tournament.

And the HK squad has two wicketkeepers. Nothing wrong with that, except one's 18, the other's 17. they're either child prodigies, or reflective of the small number of people who play the game in HK.

Any series that helps to confirm the death of 50 over cricket is probably a good thing.
I'm beginning to suspect that this tournament was a cunning plan of Lalit Modi's......

Re: Asia Cup
Actually Trevor, you'll see Asia cup would be quite fiercely fought for between SL, Pak and India. Its always been a series for 3 major subcon teams to assert their regional supremacy.
And its not that it is being played every year. Current version is getting scheduled after a period of 4 years. Now thats quite a long interval, whether it was genuine or forced is another matter though.

Re: Asia Cup
Gambhir did not play against UAE and HongKong in the Tri series down under or the t 20 WC. Off late he is turning out to be pretty good in 20-20 and 50-50 all around not just against the minnows. Let us not deprive credit where it is due.

Re: Asia Cup
I agree with Josh Carney on this one. GG is playing with a lot of confidence these days and in current form he will be big problem for most bowlers around the world.
I am also looking forward to watching Y Pathan bat because from the brief innings in the kitply final he seemed like a real talent and kind of reminds me of A Symonds.

GG has played MuMu with so much ease and intent than any other Indian player I have seen for quite a while.

Very true.
So at least someone is giving him the credit. Let us hope that he lives opto the expectation!
