We normally get to the semi's before we choke.

Both Mascarenhas and Wright getting out the same way took some doing. That after being gifted a life by Taylor.

Ah well, Twenty Schmenty...
Who cares?
As I said after the last game, we have no structure to our one day/T20 innings at all.

Is Eng definitely out of WC?
What if NZ gets beaten by SA and Eng defeats India tomorrow?

SA would have 2 wins, NZ have 2 wins
Only scenario is NZ bt SA, IND bt SA and ENG bt IND
Not likely

Dreaded. Just seen the 'highlights' of our demise. No thought involved. Pretty much like a Northants run chase.
Mentioning them, if we're trounced by Middx it'll cap off a wonderful year or two of cricket.

Huzzah. The Antipodean defence. Well played sir. We may be playing it after an unpredictable Pakistan wipe us off Wanderers.JKLever wrote:Ah well, Twenty Schmenty...

And yet he was made ODI Captain!
Frankly, he looked pretty clueless in the field for the last three games... ie., against decent opposition and when up against it.

Fat lady ain't on stage yet mate!!
I'd rather see Shah sent home now that Englerlund are out of the 20/20 bing-bang-bosh ... so he can turn out against your lot.
Monty too, for that matter... full team both sides - make it interesting.

Monsta will be playing. Did well versus Essex. Saves us using another joke bowler. Not confident. Cricket's been f'kin me for a couple of years, reckon it was all the praying to the cricketing gods during the Ashes '05 that did it.

Aye ... overkill on the sacrificial promises during '05 did for me too.
Still, t'was worth it .. even for just 15 months of gloating.

Yeah, pretty much was. Strange how it all obliterated from then on, too much of a coincidence.
At least we've actually held the little f*cker for a few months.

Was it tht bad a capitulation?
Its not on ANY of the sports channels over here in Tel Aviv, even fox sports. They're showing Japanese football FFS.

Not really, you know how T20 can change over the course of a few overs.
72-1 (11) in no way means you're on course to score 90 off 9 overs
Needed 28 off 18 balls, and suddenly 15 off 6
If your innings lacks any strategy, which our ODI cricket has for years you can lose it pretty quickly in the T20 stuff

It was worse than bad ... it was clueless.
A sound opening partnership then gimmes all over the place for the NZudders.
Colt-esque calling leading to insane run outs, carves that always found a black cap in the deep, even Shah's let off wasn't capitalised on.... nuff said. You could smell the panic from 3000 miles away.
As for Schofield ... FFS.
Glad it's over tbh.

Re: Eng v NZ, T20 WC, Durban, 18th September
Typical end of T20 run chase carnage coupled with our inept mental ability to chase anything over 10 then?
Pieterson playing to the crowd more than the game situation, and becuase they've farked about with the batting order so much, no guy really knew how to run with the bloke he was batting with?
All in all, marvellous.
Glad Maddy got some runs. Go the specialists, otherwise we would have seen Bellhop back!
Schofield was always going to be found out, it was just a matter of when, turned out it was possibly at the worst moment when we had them screwed down by the sounds of things.
How did Gillespie bowl at the death?

Re: Eng v NZ, T20 WC, Durban, 18th September
Wasn't impossible in the slightest. In fact, there's been quite a few chases like that. Was just weak as, IMO. Fact of the matter is, we p1ssed our pants. 3 wickets in the penultimate over really wasn't necessary. Nor were the jittery run outs. Yep, we needed quite a few runs in the last two, but it's not as if they tried to work the two's. They went for sixes and not alot else, which wasn't actually necessary until the last over.

Oh well, I don't regret missing that.

Hardly fumbled a single ball. Took two regulation catches.

He is Knott/Taylor/Stuart reincarnated. Dunno why no-one thought of it before.
Made no difference to the fact we are carp though.

Aha - I always suspected a quality, agile fielder like Solanki could pick up wicket-keeping quite quickly.
He should stick at it. Might forge an international career for himself yet...
Re: Eng v NZ, T20 WC, Durban, 18th September
At least it was a half decent effort rather than the pathetic thrashing we got from the Aussies. Sad though as we did seem to throw it all away.

NZ have been very poor apart from Vettori, but still are winning, both Eng and Ind threw away their games vs NZ.

Pietersen and Shah are getting a reputation as trouble makers when it comes to running between the wickets.
