Not really - he always talks bollocks. He's still trying to get the European Union to rewrite their entire employment constitution just so that he can introduce a quota system into football - even though the EU have constantly told him it's never going to happen and he's wasting his time.

Why would the EU want that. As long as the money keeps dragging foreign players into the EPL, England will never be able to put together a decent national side because local talent will be pushed aside and will have to keep living on the 'glory' of one world cup some time last century. The EU love having a laugh at Britain's expense.

When English club football was at it's best in the 1970-1982 period, England missed out on qualification 2 out of 3 times. Don't think that argument holds....

What's a 'decent' side anyway - we finished in the top 8 of the last WC. Missing out on the top 4 on pens. That's decent.

Our last truly great side was in 1970, which was better than the 66 team.

England won't compete at International level until our youth coaching is totally revamped and we produce kids with half decent technique.

Not really - just always held the opinion we won't compete for international honours until we produce more technical footballers at a younger level.

Anyway, I shall post no more....

I'm not up for an argument on this, just expressing my opinion that if a national team wants to excel on the world stage, it has to offer pathways for juniors to get to the top level.

I suspect there's something in common between my thoughts and JKLs in the end.

The problem is part technique, no england players seem to be able to run with the ball and go round players. Also they are so one dimensional in their play - hack it down the wing and cross it in. The best English players generally do make it to the top flight, but hard work and determination arent enough.

The other thing is this whole cult of celebrity thing. I support Arsenal and I can see Wenger trying to keep Theo Walcott away from the whole lot. You got to remember that any professional footballer, even in League 2, earns a tidy sum. But in the Prem League, they are in their own world and football is the only thing that matters. Terry crying over missing a pen? Grow up boy, what did you do when your mum died? cut your arm off? Its part of this whole 'proud to be stupid' thing among youth/young adults these days, dont need to know anything cos im a football player.

Aye, and don't give away so many spots at the top level to OS players. Give the local product the chance to learn by playing with some of the best in the world, not by making them watch from the stands or on the teev.

But only a wage slave.
