Re: England v South Africa, 1st Test, Lord's 10-14 July (II)
I've got nothing against Broad. But his last six or seven overs have been rubbish.
I could say they've been brilliant if that would make you happy, though.

And Dell wheeled his bandwagon
Stu Broad he was slaggin'
Crying
Rubbish! and garbage!
A-live a-live oh.

And now Sid gives Steyn a single off the first ball of the over...
41 partnership - without too many alarms.
England have bowled shit at the tail. As they always do.

To use a phrase they use in polite circles "f*ck off".
You have the advantage of seeing most of the day's play live, which I don't. But I sense a kneejerk reaction to every spell that Broad bowls which doesn't produce a wicket.
No-one would deny that he is work in progress. But he has more going for him than any other bowler of his age in the county game. he also has thee added advantage of being able to hold a bat - to much more effect than Gilo. In short, Broad can be a genuine allrounder.
That also has the advantage of easing Fred's passage back into the side a six knowing that there is a halfway decnt bat to come in below him.
By the way - ton-up to Prince: well played.

What's knee-jerk about reporting what is actually happening - in this case, that Broad isn't bowling very well.

If that is your opinion based on what you see without recourse to any pre-formed opinion - fair enough.

Thanks for your consent.
Prince out, swishing at a wide one.
Surely Ntini won't hold this up for long...

On the Broad thing - he has a lot of ability but that doesn't mean you can't criticise. He gives away too many runs and too often comes out with 2/80 in Tests. It's amazing because he bowls brilliant lines with the white ball - much better than in Tests. Strange. Fantastic prospect nonetheless. I don't think he has quite worked Test match bowling out though.
BTW - brilliant day's work for SiBo. 2/41, economical, and the two biggest wickets (Prince 'cause he got a hundred). Excellent stuff.

I'm not saying don't criticise - if he bowls shit - then call it for what it is. I'd like to compare Pidge's stat's with Broad at this stage of their respective careers.
Anyway - you said it " I don't think he has quite worked out test match bowling though" So, he's going to learn that by sending him back to Notts?

Cricket pie - all over his shirt.
That's stumps. England ten wickets away from victory, with two days to go.

Last time something like this happened, we dropped ten catches and Mahela Jayawardene scored a century so irritating I wanted to tear my own face off with little knives.

Bar the end, when he overbowled Broad (12 over spell!) a bit, good captaincy from Vaughany today as well. Good fields, good bowling changes, good instructions to the bowlers.
Two days to get 10 wickets. South Africa should be fine. Kallis will bat for 2 days and form partnerships with people to save the Test.
