But there is the whole 'play the f*cking situation, qunt' argument as well. Just seen Jimmy battle away for hours, knows there's a f*cking rake of overs left and goes and does this. Dreadful.
Aye - if I was Jimmy i'd say to him in the dressing room - 'So WTF was I doing out there busting my balls so you could play a sh!theap shot like that for?'
KP got a pretty good ball. Pitched on off and seamed away. It's not as if he was out caught on the deep mid wicket boundary.

Obviously seems odd to say this after our fellas have been flayed around the park twice in succession (once without Fred, once without Sid, it's true, but still) ... but maybe we are getting back to a decent set of bowlers after three years, then.
I think big victories - and astronomical scores - often start from quite small turning points. Like the last Ashes - even after Harmison's stage-fright at Ball 1, following two days or so of the Second Test, I doubt many woudl have predicted a Hawaii and a fiasco. A few small initial pivots can lead to a massive momentum shift. ~ Admittedly, it would have helped at that time if we had had rather more decent players in four or five positions! (not renaming names...)
So maybe there is hope. Just add about 100% and we might not get caned next year!

Agreed about it all really. Wasn't saying Sids would've made us champion, but if you check his stats he'd have been another bowler they wouldn't be able to get away easily. They didn't find it a cakewalk against the accuracy of Flintoff and Anderson. Pressure built for an hour or so.
Then Broad came on, 13 runs leaked in an over and away they went. Then Pattinson came on for a few buffet balls, three good balls and got a wicket. More loseness followed and bang, we're out of the game.

Well played Jimmy Anderson. Really gutsy stuff out there this morning. I think a lot of us should get off his back after seeing how hard he's tried in this test.

I'm off it, after his admirable bowling performances in two floggings.

Pft... will take more than a couple of decent performances to convince me the Anderson cycle is dead and buried

No, agreed. I'm not saying that. I'm saying it'll take me more than half an innings of shite for him to elicit a diatribe from me.
Re: England v South Africa, 2nd Test , Leeds, 18-22 July
I think the point is, that the cycle might be extending itself a little bit. That to me is showing a slight improvement, and therefor fair play to the lad!

FFS.
What a catch.
De Vile one's performance in this match since his moment of shame is clear evidence that there is no god.
And if there is, he's a farkin' biased Jaarpie.

I'm not going to get on Bell for that one, The Cheat pulled off a blinder and showed what an actual catch looks like.
Saying that, not sure he should've been playing at that. To put it one way, he's hidden amongst ignominy.
