Just when we thought we had enough T20
Tri-Nations 20/20 cricket on its way
by Christo Buchner | 02 October 2008 (00:02)
Cricket’s version of the Tri-Nations rugby series is on its way -- a Twenty20 super series featuring South Africa, Australia and India, starting in 2009.
Astronomical amounts will be at stake but no details are known, other than plans for the matches to be played in all three countries.
No official announcement has been made and Cricket SA’s administrators are keeping mum, but plans for the competition have been confirmed by a reliable source.
The proposed new competition was discussed at a recent International Cricket Council meeting in Dubai; the last ICC meeting that Norman Arendse attended as Cricket SA president.
The tournament will be similar to the Tri-Nations rugby series in which teams from South Africa, New Zealand and Australia have competed since 1996.
The interest is expected to be enormous but the 2009 calendar is already clogged. It will take some juggling to fit in a new competition.
The second Twenty20 world championships are to be held in England next year and Australia will be involved in a test series and one-day internationals in South Africa as well as the Ashes series against England.

Surely cricket's version of the Tri Nations would include New Zealand instead of India?

Maybe they didn't want a strong competition.

So.... no room there for the SNoozers, eh!!
A bit selctive that, innit?!
Strikes me that CA and the SACB are bloody keen to brown nose their way into the BCCI coffers at the expense of their Rugby affiliates ...
Shameful .... I see India's ugly hand on this tiller.
Divide and conquer.
BAN INDIA.

Yep, he is ... and he does, the barsteward.
He also dresses in white dhotis, wears leather sandals and John Lennon specs and has a spining wheel in his drawing room ...
but ............... he drives a merc 450 SEL, shags around and lives in Berkshire.
Does that matter?.
