Fan: Twenty20 is the best!
A Sydney cricket fan has declared the Twenty20 World Cup, currently being played in South Africa, to be the greatest sporting event ever held in the history of the world.
“I adore it,” Alan Taylor-Waugh told thebladder.com. “There’s nothing about it I don’t like.
“At last, cricket has found some meaning. Matches with so much at stake and played as though they’re life and death. I’ve never seen the Aussies so tuned in and so intent. It’s brilliant.”
Taylor-Waugh said he hadn’t slept at all since the event started. “I watch every match live and then I spend all day watching the replays on Foxtel,” he told thebladder.com. “Every game is as fresh as the last, with the dancing girls and funny little lines where the bowlers run in, and all the other innovations that have lifted cricket out of the sort of doldrums that Ashes Tests have been in recent series.”
In fact, the only possible improvement Taylor-Waugh could see for the concept was to make the games last a little longer. “I’m having so much fun watching them, I really think they could be expanded – even by as much as 150 per cent. That would make each side bat for 50 overs and that would be really terrific.
In unrelated news, Brett Lee’s announcement that his hat-trick against Bangladesh was the high point of his career has led to Wisden, the authoritative cricket journal, downgrading his previous career from Test Star to County Hack.
story, fair dinks

No, my corrections refer back to the initial poster . . . the bit about "clean-off guy" should have been a give-away
