"Zimbabwe is mine, I'll never surrender"
And Britain is for the British. No prizes for guessing who said this.
Robert Mugabe: Zimbabwe is mine - I will never surrender

Ironic that the Brits can go half way round the world, and bomb the hell out of a country killing thousands, to fight someone elses war yet they can't be bothered to clean up the mess here that they were partly responsible for creating.
No one is asking for an invasion but why they havent assasinated Mugabe by now is beyond logic. Its not as if our intelligence agencies havent done such things before.

The last thing we need is to make Mugabe a martyr... He must have a few supporters even now in Zimbabwe.

Eh? A decade ago Zim had a thriving economy. Mugabe created this mess, not the UK.

I somehow doubt that at this stage Mugabe will be a martyr to more than his posse, and maybe not even them.

Right and the UK, along with Jimmy Carter's administration had nothing to do with Mugabe coming to power.
When Zimbabwe held its first proper democratic elections in 1979 Bishop Abel Muzorewa won and became prime minister. Yet the Americans and Brits would have none of it. The Bishop was referred to as a 'neo facist' leader and sanctions were still not lifted. The Americans and the UK instead turned to that lovely chap Bob Mugabe who of course returned the favour in 1980 by killing 25,000 people belonging to a minority tribe, the Ndebele. Yet still he was supported.
And the rest is history......
If the will was there they could have easily killed the man years ago and ended this needless suffering his people have gone through. Its not as if our intelligence agencies havent dont this in the past. (there were plans drawn up to kill milosevic and a failed attempt on gaddafi's life)

Well its a bit rich for some Brits to wash their hands of this when their government continued to support 'Sir' Robert Mugabe even after he was involved in countless massacres. Why the inaction then yet the crocodile tears now?
I guess as long as dictator X,Y or Z is an ally of ours its fine to turn a blind eye to his butcheries however when things change people suddenly show interest and proclaim ''it must stop'

Neville Chamberlain didn't cause or ignore Hitler.
He was simply naive.

Neither facts of which were known at the time. (paraphrases Sir Humphrey)
The Brits washed their hands of Idi Amin (regrettably) too, and Africa fixed him. Well let's see Africa take it's destiny into it's own hand and stand on their own two legs once again, and maybe the West will throw in a few white advisers and a Carrier Group on a "goodwill mission" to make sure the job's done right.

Africa's hand is in the till and its politicians are legless, and none of the white Western advisers have ever achieved anything lasting.Bradman wrote: Well let's see Africa take it's destiny into it's own hand and stand on their own two legs once again, and maybe the West will throw in a few white advisers and a Carrier Group on a "goodwill mission" to make sure the job's done right.

That's true the average Brit has nothing to do with it.
But the government must take responsibility for a lot messes it has made over the years and there have been many. Instead of following the Americans like sheep we could have saved loads of lives and prevented a lot of injustice by doing something about Mugabe. But ofcourse there's no Islamic radicals in Zim so it's ok for their people to starve and die.
