Re: Snooker
Gone off snooker a bit but I see Ronnie is in the final.
Whenever I turn the tv I see nomark v nomark and then find out it's the world number 7 playing the world number 9
No characters in the game these days....

Re: Snooker
O Sullivan carries the sport by himself. He snapped his cue (which he won a world title with) "for fun" just before the tournament, so he was playing with a new cue. To anyone who doesn't play snooker, most professionals couldn't get past the first round in a tournament if they were forced to play with a new cue. It's such a phenomenal achievement, I think it's probably the best thing he's ever done.JKLever wrote:Gone off snooker a bit but I see Ronnie is in the final.

Re: Snooker
Top final.
Mark Selby blew that big time though.
Anyway, on with the AFC Championship game now...the NFC game was a belter too - plenty of channel hopping going on between that and the snooker!
And as I type, touchdown Pittsburgh.

Re: Snooker
Being a snooker fan, on the one hand I feel priviliged to be watching Ronnie O'Sulivan in his prime, but I'm also kind of gutted that he'll never get the recognition that he deserves due to snooker's diminishing popularity. He is by far the best and most freakish talent the game has ever seen, and when he retires I think snooker will die as there is no one currently out there capable of taking his mantle (Selby is a great competitor but doesn't have the star draw that Ronnie has).
If he'd been born a decade earlier and mixed it up with the likes of Higgins and Davis ( who he would have owned) then he'd be a household name, as it stands he only has the respect he deserves from proper snooker fans and not passing fans like the sport had in it's heyday.
It's kind of depressing to admire true genius of his sport who gets no where near the recognition he deserves. Whilst tempermental, in my opinion he is so far ahead of his peers when on form that his superiority far eclipses other modern greats such as Federer or Woods (I'm a huge fan of both incidentally).

The 80's was the sports high really - remember the whole family saying up will 2am to watch Dennis Taylor beat Davis 18-17 in the 1985 World final - 18 million viewers FFS

Probably in terms of 'characters' and popularity but in terms of quality of play and depth of talent it's never been better.

No, mate.
Didn't know that.
But just googled it.
Ben Graham, eh? No, had no idea, but not really followed the Cardinals too much - amazed they made it to the Superbowl!
A very Aussie response to questions on an injury he is carrying!
BEN Graham will undergo intense physiotherapy on a groin injury this week, but is adamant that nothing will stop him from becoming the first Australian to play in a Super Bowl.
"Hell, no. Shit, no," the former Geelong champion said after his Arizona Cardinals ended more than six decades of futility by booking a berth in Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa in a fortnight.
The 35-year-old punter injured the groin - the same injury he endured throughout his AFL career - four days before yesterday's National Football Conference championship game against compatriot Sav Rocca's Philadelphia Eagles.
"I only had four days to get ready for today, for the Super Bowl I'll have 14 days," Graham said.
