Re: Paul Collingwood - best 'worst' batsman?
Steve Waugh in his youth was a most attractive strokemaker.
He may sometimes have been made to look awkward against the short stuff but he developed a way to approach it and it rarely got himout thereafter.

Don't think he does, certainly not that %.Dhoni mistimes the shots 50% of the time

Dhoni's an ugly (very) batsman but he's really talented.

SC Ganguly seems to have been omitted. Talk about a wank-donkey dodging an obvious bullet.

Easily more naturally talented than Colly though. Despite being grossly overated...

Oh yeah... yeah you're right. So's Vaughan and I've seem his name bandied around. And he's like a better version of Ganguly. Who, in all, has been shithouse.

No arguments from me there...

Not the point. He was still rather gash...
It's between Shastri & Astle then.
I thought that was one of the points. If it's just the averages, why have the discussion? Assign weights to the centuries and average and you can 'compute' your best worst batsman.
And Ganguly was atleast as good as Vaughan. Their records are similar, and both were great to watch in full flow, and both were sh!thouse most of the time, and both led from the front when it was really needed of them.

It's not just averages plainly... but Aesthetics don't come into the argument.
Who made the most out of the least talent is perhaps a better way of phrasing it.

9 Test Hundreds and an average of 51.07.
But every time I have watched him bat he has been an absolute gash-lord...

Re: Paul Collingwood - best 'worst' batsman?
On the original premise of looking ugly as sin at the crease but grafting out the runs - maybe Chanders and Peter Willey could be nominations?
