Mike Hussey
Is he under pressure to hold his test spot? He's looked completely out of sorts for the last 12 months now, and is averaging 30 in his last 10 tests.

Re: Mike Hussey
He's proven to be good in English conditions but he appears to be bereft of confidence and unwilling or unable to keep the scoreboard ticking. Despite his great record he's always been a limited player. When he first prospered in test cricket, some of the Shield players around the traps expressed a bit of surprise. He was never going to be able to maintain his early record.
The question remains though, who are the batsmen pushing down the door for selection? D.Hussey, Ferguson, Hodge? Some such as Pomersbach who were talked up a year or so ago have fallen off the radar. Hodge would seem to be persona non grata, Hussey D. would be more of the same, Ferguson's first class record is not super flash.

Re: Mike Hussey
After 15 tests, Jimmy Adams was averaging mid 80s
Hussey was too.
Adams finished his 54 test career averaging just over 41.
Hussey is now averaging 55 after 37 tests.

Mussey's lost his mojo. From here, I can only foresee a long trek for him into Mordor to try and destroy the Ring of Power, so that he can be rid of his burden and bat like he's used to batting.

When Hussey's average was in the stratosphere, many experts thought he looked like a player whose true average should have been around 45.

Re: Mike Hussey
Mussey, sadly for us Poms, will do well in England.
He's a solid leftie and revels in these conditions and I predict that he'll make a lorra lorra runs before we see the back of him in September.
Remember .... you heard it here first ... oh wait, I'd better check the C4 archives first before making a statement like that !

Out of form batsman to come into form against rubbishy England?
Hardly scoop of the week, Merls.

Aye, very true Gus ... fed by our pie men and a few guaranteed let-offs by our keeper (who's only in for his runs) ....
What was I thinking ?!!

Sadly I think that is a very apt comparison...Both players came in at the back end of a dominant era for their teams as well.

Hussey is a far better batsman than Adams. I reckon a spell down the order might help. At the moment he seems petrified to play a shot.

you just know it is time when a batsman has had it when he starts to talk about a big score being around the corner...eg tubby, Kjnr, chappellg

Hussey and Clarke should probably swap positions.

Made 182 in his farewell innings. Also his duck scoring is a bit of a myth. The bad trot occurred over a two or three week period, most were scored in ODIs (many to jaffas against the Windies) and shortly before he had scored a double ton against Pakistan. That was still the era of the twin series alternating countries as opponents.
