South Africa v Australia, 4th ODI, Port Elizabeth, Apr 13
Must win for the Aussies. (Obvious, but a message has to be entered.)

Re: South Africa v Australia, 4th ODI, Port Elizabeth, Apr 13
I don't think that the toss here is as important as in the day/nighters. Interestingly Australia has a very good record here and it's been somewhat of a hoodoo ground for SA in recent years. Australia has beaten SA in seven of their eight matches here.
Hard to imagine that Clark will play as he'll be rusty and ODIs have never really been his forte.
The hosts' recent record in Port Elizabeth also does not bode well for them. The Proteas have lost two of the last four ODI's, have lost three consecutive Tests and the solitary Twenty20 international played at the coastal venue.
The Friendly City has been a fortress for the Australians.
The Aussies have won seven of the eight ODI's they have played in PE, including a few thrillers during the 2003 World Cup.

Not a nibble there? Almost admirable restraint.Red wrote:I don't think that the toss here is as important as in the day/nighters. Now Harwood has been added to the squad and he may well play tomorrow night.
Australia have added the Victorian Shane Harwood to their squad for this match, calling him over from the Rajasthan Royals' camp and he may replace Ben Laughlin in the starting line-up. Harwood, 35, played Australia's two Twenty20 internationals late last month in South Africa before being sent home. Brett Lee and Stuart Clark will both be in Port Elizabeth when the match is played but neither will come into contention. Lee is training there with his IPL side and doesn't officially join the ODI squad until the series in the UAE, while Clark will have only just arrived. "Stuart Clark will meet us in Johannesburg ahead of the fifth and final one-day international in Johannesburg on Friday, said team spokesman Philip Pope.

Punter has elected to bowl and both captains expect it to move around a lot in the first ten overs because of all the moisture on top. This is the first time Punter has elected to send the opposition in. Teams here have a good record in chasing down totals.
Harwood replaces Geeves while the Saffers retain the same team.
The last time South Africa beat Australia in Port Elizabeth was in April 1994, when the Proteas beat Allan Border's Australians by 26 runs.

Classic Red. A complete factual cock-up, a formating error, and no response when the gaping hole in the statement is pointed out.taipan wrote:Red wrote:Australia has beaten SA in seven of their eight matches here.

So Aus played SA a few time during the WC?
Although I'm sure that at some stage she'll come back and find some way of trying to explain that she was right all along.
Once she's found another Mark Waugh dropped catch to orgasm about.

How sh!t have we become at this form of the game. Firstly, we commit the cardinal sin of chasing (something we are sh!t at - and purely out of fear of how carp our top 6 are at the moment) and then we bowl like grandmothers. FFS.
Well played on a 4-1 series victory, you Saffies.
