We're playing Pakistan in England? That should be interesting. The umpires won't know who to screw over.

Seems a good thing . .and with 6 tests the Paks should feel reasonably well at home by the end of it . . .

i dont know if england is a good 'home' option for pak, at least in terms of cricketing reasons. it will certainly be a whole lot more of an advantage for their opponents as opposed to sub-continental conditions

getting the uae ready would be more advantageous and will also give the pakistanis a lot more control. this may be a 4-5 year situation, so it would make sense to develop uae as a real home base, which they cannot do in england

Its money they're after. The UAE would leave them with a bill to pay.

People in glass houses and all that . . . you're wide of the mark as well, Smerky.

As far as I can tell, next summer's program of international cricket in England next summer will consist of the following - taking into account these (still tentative) proposals: -

Eng v Ban - 2 Tests, 3 x ODI.
Eng v Pak - 4 Tests, 5 x ODI. 2 x T20.
Eng v Aus - 5 x ODI.

Pak v Aus - 2 Tests, 2 x T20.

Assume that one of the usual 7 England home Test matches is being sacrificed in favour of the additional OD series againt Oz, which in turn is presumably as additional preparation ahead of the 2011 World Cup.

Only 8 tests then. So 9 in a season still stands as a record on its own.

yeah i thought UAE was the best option but having said that Pakistan have had a very good record in England since Imran's team won there in 1987

1987- won
1992- won
1996- won
2001- draw
2006- Lost

this is a very different pakistani team and those teams played some weak english teams. playing pakistan in england is certainly better for the likes of australia, new zealand, west indies and south africa rather than playing them in sharjah or dubai. it may even be better for india

That would be because you had a decent bowling attack. And now?

bowling attack will get decent once they get a chance to play

Even now the t20 and ODI bowling attack is very good.
In tests Gul and Asif would make a solid opening pair with Arafat as the 1st change along with Afridi and Kaneria/Ajmal. The key is probably the emergence of M Aamer or some other young bowler but they aren't gonna become world beaters by sitting at home.
