When you say, "met" what exactly do you mean?DJ_Smerk wrote:I now have enough of a small portfolio of "famous" or well-known people that I've met to discuss.

I batted four in the "shagging Minki" team ... but I never got a mention in Yolanda Barnard's book.

Dunno if this constitutes a meeting but my friend and I got off the bus on the way to school, to see Diana. It was 1981, so just before she married Charles. She was opening up a community centre in Thornton Heath and she shook our hands. They'd said she was really tall but I'm 5' 8" and she didn't seem much taller. I was struck by the amount of make up she had caked on.
We missed registration and two lessons and were called to see the headmistress. She told us off and then asked all about it!

Just think, you could've met me if you hadn't preferred to go shopping for handbags in London.

Mitchell and Webb. I didn't really say shit.
Moira Stewart. I didn't really say shit.
Danny Dyer. I didn't really say shit.
Curtley Ambrose. Coached me (for three sessions). David Capel. Rob Bailey. Allan Lamb. Monty Panesar. Graeme Swann. Stephen Crook. Tim Walton, Scott Boswell, Tony Penberthy. Talked to David Sales on the phone. John Blain.
Went out on the razzle with quite a few footie players one time, no-one really you'd know apart from poss Steve Howard(qunt) and Lee Howey(Magpie Steve's bro).
I know some bloke that plays with Weller.
That's probably all.

Bit of a cock waving thread, and I don't keep lists or think about it very much - but straight off the top of my head.
Iain O'Brien – Loose, but friendly acquaintance.
Tony Borrington – (Ex-Derbyshire) – First cricket coach, and youthful cricketing inspiration.
Bobby Brown – Ex Rangers & Scotland goalkeeper, and the manager of the ‘unofficial World Champions’ Scotland side that beat England at Wembley in 1967. Friend / rambling partner of the bread knife’s folks. 86 now, but still going strong and looks and acts at least 20 years younger – taken us to the posh seats in the Directors’ box at Ibrox on occasion.
Peter Corrigan – Well respected Independent journalist / ex-sports editor of The Observer. Close family friend, having dated / lived with my cousin for years.
Hard not to bump into numerous other cricketing / footballing types when you spend so much time playing / watching the game, and drinking in bars and pubs they often frequent, but wouldn't say I really knew any of them as such. Just one worth mentioning that I look back on with fondness and a chuckle: -
Tommy Docherty – Was sat on a wall in Millport on the island of Great Cumbrae when I was about 15 or 16, and whiled away some time talking bollox to him. Think he might have been on the sauce, seemed even more of a chaotic character than normal.

Rowan Atkinson, Brian May (from Queen).
I asked Brian May - 'Can I have my pen back please?'. Stunning conversation that was.

I've only met one person even remotely famous and that was the Queen. I keep thinking that, when she dies, I won't have met anyone. I'll say something like 'Oh, you know that ex-Queen woman, I met her once,' and the young 'uns will say, 'Oh, you mean Jade Goody, granddad?'
And I'll go 'Yeah, you ickle qunts. That's the one.'

It's no coincidence that all those people only met him once.
It is just a shame that embee did not succeed.
