Yuvraj Singh is a phenomenal talent

Some of the shots that he has played in the last 3 weeks have had me

Will be a shame if this guy doesn't become a TOP CLASS test cricketer.

Isn't he more of a biffer? OD specialist?

hmm...yeah but if you can strike the ball like that then you should be good enough for all 3 forms

He got found out in Australia, looked well out of his depth. Decent T20 player though.

He is phenomenal in the short versions when technique is not tested that much.
He could easily walk into a Sumo or WWF wrestling gig the way he is bloating by the day.

There are people with inferior batting techniques and far inferior ball striking ability who are currently doing alright in test cricket

so why can't yuvraj?

I strongly dislike Yuvraj, always mouthing off whenever he can and he'll soon take Matty Haydens Flat track bully tag. He seems lost when the pitch has a bit of life in it, that's all I'm saying.

He has been given a long rope in test cricket. Strking ability means nothing in test Cricket if one cannot keep the good balls out.

Striking the ball usually matters when they can master a solid forward defence. The Yuvraj generation seem to think that all cricket is about is smacking the ball as far as you can. The art of Test Cricket requires strategy and thought in every delivery.

Putting Yuvraj as Captain of an IPL team is pretty much the only team he'll be captaining.

It seems that Yuvraj must play with an angled bat rather than playing straight. The angled bat usually aims to the Third man area in T20's to gain a quick one or two and maybe the odd four.

Cant disagree with that

It must be a lack of mental preparation before a test match/series which is the cause of such average results.

He captains the Punjab team? if yes then how did they do this year?

T20 and Test Cricket are a world apart.


I don't think he could captain India to any major success IMO.

I've always said that he's the most naturally gifted Indian batsman since Tendulkar. However, a slightly lazy and carefree attitude has held him back so far when it comes to test cricket.

Once you have met his father, you shall lose all/any opinion of him whatsoever.

It is actually quite commendable that Yuvraj has achieved quite a bit despite his Father.

He's the sort of batsman India should persist with in test cricket because he has the priceless ability to change the course of a game in a session. Pretty much all of his test centuries have come with India in trouble as well, so I don't buy the FTB tag that is often given to him.

The great YUVI may not be phenomenal but his dad is a phenomenal promoter of his son

He just needs some mental adjustment and a better defence. A little more discipline and fitness won't hurt either. India are playing 2 or rather 3 series in this season in the subcontinent. I hope for a much better performance from Yuvraj.

But even if he improves a lot, he won't score more than 5-6 thousand runs in the test.
