Yeah, I kind of agree. There is simply no better candidate than Ponting at the moment. For the opposition.

Regardless of his captaincy, there's no way Punter can be dropped and who's to say Clarke will be any better.

Spanky wasn't too laudatory of his morning session effort in the field.

Given what happened later in the day, in hindsight, the Drunk's captaincy wasn't as bad as it has been in other matches. There were still vestiges of panic, but in the context of the whole day, criticism early in the day may well have been prematurely harsh.

Batting isn't captaincy. Batting is batting. The only thing Ponting is good at is batting, and leading by example with the bat. As a tactician in the field he is terrible.

The lack of results from Strauss's captaincy suggests that it's a hard deck to captain a fielding team on anyway. Whcih is accentuated by the drunk being thick.
