Proper cricket is that
So I scored 8 runs off 43 overs to get my side the draw the other day:

Feel free to praise and be astonished and generally admire me and perhaps campaign for me to open the batting for England.

I bet you were popular with the oppo! They cane your bowling, declare early and watch you make no attempt whatsoever to get the runs, but block from the start?
Must have been a thrilling afternoon...

Re: Proper cricket is that
We're actually the Weasels but stumbled upon the fact that bits of pieces of my career are preserved on the ECB website going through the Tusker's site. Where can we find you then Merlin?
Bit of context was we had few late withdrawals and were weak as a kittens in the field- no frontline bowlers, couple of young non-cricketing lads in shorts and a girl (who did very respectably) making up the numbers. Kingstonian still took it upon themselves to absolutely metaphorically rape us with the bat so I had no qualms about blocking them to oblivion.

Ah, that puts a slightly different spin on it then. So you probably didn't care if you never played them again anyway?
There is a certain pleasure from infuriating teams like that. We have one league opponent we quite happily play out for a draw against because they're simply so obnoxious.

Re: Proper cricket is that
They're usually quite agreeable to be fair to them but they took it a bit too far on Sunday- imagine their centurions have been a bit shy of runs this season. We have come up against a number of genuinely obnoxious sides down the years- not that we know too much about it but if you are massively stronger you shouldn't put the boot in too much.
If only Australia had done the decent thing down the years in the Ashes and had their batsmen retire at 50 and then bowl some donkey drops to help make the games a bit more competitive...

Re: Proper cricket is that
It can be a little bit tricky with massively weaker oppo though. We had a Sunday game a few years back where they were truly awful in the batting, which we didn't quite expect. We must have got about 250, and after one of the fourth choice bowlers started off with a spell of 6-7.....
Anyway, it finished so early we decided to have a beer match, and reversed our batting order. Got about 120 in 10 overs, and we were all set to lob the ball up so they could have a thrash, then their skipper wanders over and says "Good idea, we've reversed our batting order too...."

Jeff?
Definitely fielded better then Jeff does. He'll bite the noses off paras but he's terrified off cricket balls.

I like how your team was going to give the poor, confused bloke at 10 another go at 11.
