Wacky Wozzies

A star Australian cricketer has been charged over a bizarre series of incidents involving police in the Perth suburb of City Beach.
Police allege Luke Pomersbach, 24, who is contracted to the Western Warriors and represented Australia in 2007, was involved in two hit-and-run accidents and assaulted a police officer at his City Beach home last night.
Pomersbach, driving his Toyota Prado, crashed into the back of a car on Oceanic Drive in City Beach about 9.30pm before driving off, police said.
About 15 minutes later, he hit a loaded skip bin on the road in the same suburb, they said.
The force of the crash pushed the bin four metres into the pergola of an adjoining house, they said.
Police said Pomersbach then reversed the car and again drove off.
Police went to the scene and followed an oil trail, which they allege led them to Pomersbach's home nearby.
Officers spoke to him and, as he was being placed in the rear of a police car, he told police he did not want to accompany them and tried to leave, police said.
A struggle developed and police tried to restrain Pomersbach, during which a police officer was allegedly pushed backwards into a window of the house, causing it to break.
Pomersbach allegedly broke free and ran away.
A police dog and his handler tracked him to a nearby beach, where he was found in the sand dunes. Pomersbach was then taken into custody.
He has been charged with failing to stop, failing to accompany police, driving in excess of .08, assaulting a public officer, obstructing police and escaping legal custody.
He is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Friday.
Pomersbach also plays for the Kings XI Punjab in the lucrative Indian Premier League, where he earns a handsome figure for six weeks of cricket.

A hard hitting, clean striking leftie with a potentially great career ahead of him, Smerky. But not any more.DJ_Smerk wrote:Shame really, 22 games averaging 43 WTBt since 2006.

Re: Wacky Wozzies
My guess is that he'll plead guilty to all the charges, get a suspended sentence and a fine, and have his WA contract torn up.
Based on his surname, i'm guessing he has European heritage (German?), so I guess he'll be playing for Derby or Northants as a Kolpak next season.
