Re: Australian State Cricket - 09-10 season
Can victorians get any more vile?
They complain when their players don't get picked and then whine they do. It's typical that they put their own interests ahead of the nation's.
It is little wonder that everybody hates them.

Victorians are naturally opposed to having good Victorian cricketers nicked to prop up the 'national - spiv' team...our best player - TGM- was denied playing for the Vix for a decade and a half.
of course Victorians put their interests before that of the nation-Spivs...your State, the the Nauseating Spiv Welshers are like a banana republic with revolving state govt leaderships, a hapless state opposition and Bronny and Turnbulldust insenior roles in the federal libs.
lets face it - NSW last contributed to quality cricket and public life with tgm and Keating.. their players lost us the ashes twice.
the Qbillies are like a crazed Arkansas on a diet of pumpkin scones...expect yet another Bjelke-Petersen to soon be drafted to lead the nation...the sozzies have taken barrell girls to a new level, the wozzies represent the Worst of Australia and the Toxics are about to be inundated as a result of global warming.

It looks like Victoria were able to replace McKay with Darren Pattinson.

under some bizarre rule, the ACB can take a player out of the middle of a game and replace him with player selected by Hildy - chair of the NSP

The rule has been around for a while ...I last remember it being used when Ben Edmondson replaced Brad Williams who was called up for a Test against BanIndia (the Adelaide Agarkar or the Melbourne Test after that)

I'm not sure about the rule. But certainaly the Pommie selectors (all one of them) use to strong arm the counties all the time to release players mid-match 100 years ago. Though of course if the big wheel selector was from a certain county the choice of player would depend on the state of a particular county match at the time.

I think the first time it happened in Australia was when John Maguire was called into the ODI team in the middle of a Shield match. Michael Maranta took his place.

So who's this Robinson dude? Obviously liked the SCG wicket. Great day (35+) to be toiling away on a first day SCG featherbed.
